Cost of installing mutli feul central heating system

Hi,
I wondered if anyone could help me: We are buying a house with storage heaters already installed and two firelplaces blocked up. Having had storage heaters in the past we are not keen to reliy on them and are moving in at the start of winter.
We ideally wanted to install a mutli burner stove and run our water and radiators off that, someone we know is currently getting rid of his central heating system and giving us his multi feul stove with back boiler and several radiators.
The feeling is we would maybe need a new water tank at the same time.
Does anyone have any idea on the rough cost to fit the radiator's up to the stove and for the cost of any pipes needed etc.
I have looked through some other posts about fitting central heating but as we have the rads and stove the costs don't really help us.
Would really appreciate it if some body could give us a rough idea...
Thank you

If you are getting a contractor to do all the work, then expect to pay 2-3k in the SE just for the installation of the pipes and radiators. Installation of the stove is likely to add an extra 1k onto that... it all depends on how much work actually needs doing, and the only way to find that out is to get some proper quotes. It could be 2k, it could be 20k+ by the time you've double skinned your chimney.
Don't know how much contractors cost on the west coast of scotland though!0 -
Eeek!!!
Yes I appcreciate I would have to get quotes done to know what needs doing- I just wanted a rough guide so as not to be time wasting asking for a quote that I probaly couldnt afford.
Hmmm may stick with storage heaters this winter!!!
Oh and prices tend to be at least 10% more where I am than down South....
Thank you for your help.0
