Quick question, is it possible/ok to freeze macaroni cheese. Made some tonight but made too much. Would like to freeze it but unsure whether you can freeze cooked pasta? Can anyone advise me (I know someone will!!) Thanks

Well you can, but I don't know how to unfreeze & reheat without it going rubbery.
I'm remembering an episode of a Gordon Ramsey show where he found a cook doing that - and she got away with serving it to customers so maybe it's possible.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -
You can certainly freeze cooked pasta with no problem, and I'm fairly sure that your cheese sauce will be OK.

With grave difficulty in my experience, its always rubbery when you try to reheat although I haven't tried freezing first0 -
Think trick with freezing pasta is to have it undercooked. Never had any success with cooked pasta in sauce - much better cooking too much sauce, freezing that, and then cooking pasta to go with it.
Obviously too late now, but if you realize you have too much pasta, drain, rinse and put in container in fridge. Then you can make up pasta salads - add home made tomato sauce possibly bit of spice. You could add some cooled roasted vegetables, or raw vegetables, some dressing, bit of spice or herbs. Sorry not being a meat eater - only other thoughts are tossing a bit of tuna in or a bit of smoked sausage.
Can't wait for the ideal way to freeze cooked pasta.0 -

What I find with my macaroni cheese is that I reheat slowly in a pan and add a little more milk as the sauce never seems to be of the right consistency after freezing, then put in an ovenproof dish, sprinkle some grated cheese over and whack under a hot grill. Comes out fine.0

I've always frozen it without probs and to reheat I put it in the oven, a tiny bit of grated cheese with breadcrumbs to go toasty on top-mmmmmmmmm delicious.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0

Ive frozen HM lasagna before and have just got out of the morning needed, then heated through in the oven. I freeze in individual portions or sometimes enough for 2 servings. Never tried Mac cheese but DD always scoffs it anyway..lol

I freeze mac & cheese all the time (it's my all time fave:D) and I have never noticed it being rubbery?
I cook the pasta first then add the sauce & top with cheese & heat through in the oven then freeze, then tend to re-heat from frozen in the oven, sometimes adding more grated cheese to the top. I do like a lot of sauce though (to try and kid yourself that it's healthy make it with 50% cheese sauce & 50% pureed sweetcorn;))

Hello everybody
I have finally taken some advice off this board!:T
Just been to the supermarket and bought a big packet of mince and loads of reduced veggies to make soup. I'm planning on making quite a few meals to pop in the freezer. I was going to make macaroni to freeze, just wondered if it'd be ok to freeze?
Thanks0
