We need to buy a new PC and would appreciate any advice.
We would not be doing any gaming, might be using fairly large graphic files however. Other than that basically Internet access.
Any suggestions for a reasonably cheap, fast machine?
If I haven't provided enough info, please let me know what else you'd need to know
Thank you.

A budget would be useful... one man's cheap is another man's expensive
However, you can't really go wrong for price and quality in general with Dell.

Most of the mid-range dells will fit your needs, browse through the site, you can easily get a 19" if not larger TFT with a Core 2 Duo processor for that.

Get one off ebay and install linux have a look here http://www.arbico.co.uk/Value-PCs-p-1-c-335.html could add screen for another 100 pounds or on dell http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/default.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen
or buy a cheap one off ebay and use linux as the operating system.0 -
Let us know what you have or what you have tried because I doubt you need to spend that much for a pretty standard, modern p.c.0

A Mac Mini is £399, and you can get yourself a 20" TFT monitor from Amazon for less than £150.
I have a friend who does a lot of photography work with hers, and it's a nice little machine.0 -

I keep forgetting computers are so much cheaper these days. I remember when £1,000 only got me a basic system .

I've got a Lenovo laptop that I use, and OH has the desktop PC, but it's coming to the end of it's useful life after performing well for quite some years. It does have XPPro on it though.
We do a newsletter thingy for our religious group using Quark, Photoshop etc., but could do with something a bit faster for Internet use.
