Forget a pocket sized camera for sports shots, far too slow and long distance's and light level, quite out of your pocket. Get her an mp3 player to while away the time.

a peice of string is twice the length if you fold it in half from the middle and then measure it, so if I know that do you think someone could be more helpful than that comment...Thank you I was only asking for guiedance not a lecture.

I thought ISOFA was making very sensible comments. Why are you so rude to them?

Apparently we're all supposed to psychically know what sort of camera Kenns wants, what they want it for, and how much they want to spend on it.

We're all supposed to know this to such an extent that attempts to solicit more information are met with extreme rudeness which Kenns regards as being perfectly warranted.

It must be wonderful to be so special.

Glad it wasn't just me, honestly you try and help! I certainly won't bother with that poster again.
  • Hey Kenns!! I think Canon Ixus 80 would be a great choice for you. Its slim, is 8 mega pixel and has 3x zoom. Its available in four colors. You haven't specified your budget..You'll get this piece for around £150. Read the review http://www.checkcost.co.uk/canon-digital-ixus-80-is-silver-digital-camera/p/319579/ that comes as a backup for what I have suggested. Canon Powerahot is an another choice. It all depends on the purpose actually.. Anyways I think this might be of your help..

Calm down girls! Let's all try and be adults shall we?

I agree with Totalsolutions on this one - a compact camera will not be able to shoot satisfactory pics of sport/action. For that Kenns' daughter will really need a DSLR. As a good quality compact though I would look seriously at the Panasonic Lumix range.

Is there a big difference between Canon's powershot and Ixus range? I am looking to replace my powershot like for like but if the Ixus has a few differences then I might look them up first.

Your concern for difference between both is in what respect? There's no point replacing the powershot with ixus..If you talk about particular model say powershot G9 and Ixus 80 then there's no point replacing. I mean G9 is 12.1 megapixel with a 6x optical zoom whereas ixus 80 is 8 megapixel camera with a 3x zoom..So tell me what model you are using, probably then I can suggest you something..

Yes. My A80 was large but took clean shots. My Ixus 75 is small but noisy.
