Used car service

The car may not have been serviced at all! I don't know what sort of outfit car giant are. Would they sell an unroad worthy car, bald tyres break pads at the limit etc?
On the other hand it could have been serviced at an independant garage to high standards?
A quick check is has the oil been changed, pull the dip stick and if the oil is golden then it is fresh if it is black it is old.
No service history, maybe the car has been clocked0 -
Thanks for all your suggestions.
There was only 1 previous owner, and it has done 29800 miles (05 registration), and there is no service book available.
Called Honda and unfortunately there is zero service history in their record
MOT was done in April this year, and car giant carried out their 114-points mechanical tests as well yesterday. Having this, do I still need to go for a major service immediately?
If I were to bring the car to a mechanic, shall I request for a full service, or can the garage tell what is needed for the car?
No don't do any of these things.
As far as you know this car has never had a service, not even an oil change. WALK, NO RUN AWAY FROM IT, BUY A DIFFERENT CAR!!!!
If it costs you your deposit, so be it.
A 114 point mechanical check will not include splitting the engine open to see what damage never having had the oil changed in nearly 30,000 miles has done.
There are lots of Honda Jazz's in the market to choose from, when you look at them, the first the to say is "show me the service history evidence", accept no excuses, if they cannot show it to you move on to another car.0 -

Oil check is ok, does not appear black. Also tyres and all seem ok too.. besides MOT is done in April, I suppose that checks for a road worthy car too? How do I know if the car is clocked? It says mileage warranted on the paper.adrianhi wrote:;No don't do any of these things.
