Used car service

Hi,

I just bought a 2005 Honda Jazz from Cargiant, which doesn't have any service history at all! The MOT is expiring in April next year. Being a first time car owner, I'm not sure if I need to send the car to a garage for service now? Cargiant said they have done some tests on the car, so do I still need to send it for check/service again?

Thanks.

If cargiant have not serviced the car before you got it and you can not find out the last time it was serviced i would be inclined to get it serviced.
Is there a sticker under the bonnet to say when the next service is due as some garages place one there.

Contact Honda/ supplying dealer, they shouild be able to supply the vehicles service history especially if it's an electronic service record.

There is no sticker seen anywhere :(

What will the cost be roughly for a service? I understand that will depend on what need to be done but what will be the standard service to do?

    Thanks.

Rather reckless. Were there no other jazzes available?

whats the mileage, if its pushing anything close to the major intervals then yeah.

given its relative youth and make its not like a service will cost that much and the alternative could be a new car

Why buy a car with no service history? There are plenty of others out there. With regards to cost it could be anything.
My Audi to service at Audi is £100+ an hour but i get my local guy to do it for £50,so all answers will differ.
  • Supplying dealer (on the reg plate usually) will be able to tell you.

Be mindful that it may have been clocked.

Contact Honda customer services or your local dealer with the reg. number and they should be able to tell you if they have a record of servicing for it.
Many cars can go 2 years or the set number of miles without service, if the miles are lower than the first service requirement it might not be such a disaster, but I would not buy anything without a service history.
  • 05 number plate? It is just out 3 years warranty and it is very likely it has been serviced sometime somewhere for the previous owner to keep the warranty valid.

As others have suggested, a Honda dealer will be able to check it in the system if it was serviced before or not. If nothing, then there is a possiblitly of being serviced some where else and the paper work was lost at some point.

How many previous owners does the car have? How many miles has it done?

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

There was only 1 previous owner, and it has done 29800 miles (05 registration), and there is no service book available.

Called Honda and unfortunately there is zero service history in their record :(

MOT was done in April this year, and car giant carried out their 114-points mechanical tests as well yesterday. Having this, do I still need to go for a major service immediately?

If I were to bring the car to a mechanic, shall I request for a full service, or can the garage tell what is needed for the car?
