Switching to Orange Dolphin PAYG

I am on Orange PAYG and I am currently on an old style plan where I receive 3000 evening and weekend texts if I top up £15. I have seen that there is a new plan in the Animal set called Dolphin that offers 300 texts and free MySpace and Facebook access if you top up £10.

I am interested in moving to this. When is the best time to do it? I currently am in the middle of a free text month. Should I wait until the end of the month to switch plans, and then do the £10 top up?

I can't answer your question directly but I do know that when I changed an old PAYG Orange sim to the new camel tariff earlier this month because I wanted to make some cheap(ish) international calls when I was out and about the change came into effect immediately. This makes me think that you'd probably lose any messages left for this month under your old tariff and that you'd need to top up £10 straight away to get the 300 texts. Therefore, I would be inclined to wait until the end of the month. Better safe than sorry!

your reward depends on how much youve topped up within your billing month
so even if you get your free texts this month top up £10 (it wont expire) then on the bill date or day before or something just call 343 and select the dolphin plan! and from the next month you would get the dolphin reward

Have had another thought - why don't you ring Orange to check? It would be less bother than losing all those free texts. Let us know the answer though!

I didn't lose mine as soon as I changed, I still have my free texts for this month, and Dolphin runs from the 24th :D
  • Generally the free bundles all stay on no matter when you change your tariff (unless the bundle is incompatible with the new tariff)

just ring Orange and ask them to confirm your bundles remain active when you change tariff.

Should be fine, unless you have a reward such as 'free evening calls' and some others associated with some old tariffs.

the free SMS one sounds like it should be ok tho.
