Getting out of abusive marriage

I don't think you would be wasting your time ringing woman's aid, if anything they will be able to point you in the right direction. I don't know about grants in your area but here you can get a 'community care grant' for furniture and carpets if you are in a council property and especially if you have children. You would need some one to fill part of it in though, so woman's aid might be able to help you there. Worth a try anyway. good luck with everything, and well done for making positive steps to get out of that relationship.DFW no.630!

Thank you all for your helpfuly and kind replys.
I am not planning to move far away but im going to leave him for a few days to calm down then tell him where we are.
I think ill ask the person at the council whos dealing with my application to give me advice on getting help with stuff. I know what you mean about just geting away and being free.
Im not worried about no carpets etc, just the kids i worry about, i want them to be comfortable.
Thanks again, im grateful for all your replys.

Hi Lisa,
Please don't think that you'd be wasting anyone's time if you did decide to contact Women's Aid- you're exactly the type of person that we're here to help. Leaving is difficult and can be traumatic, and any help you can get will hopefully make it less so. The numbers in my signature are for the National Helplines, if you do want to call the Scottish one they will be able to talk over your options with you and give you information about what help is available to you. They will also be able to put you in touch with your local WA group, who can help you with any benefit claims or practical help that you might want.
Best of luck, and feel free to pm me if you have any questions xxDon't suffer alone - if you are experiencing Domestic Abuse contact the National Domestic Abuse Helplines

Hi,
it's nice to see that the Charity nomination in itself might is signposting help and support to those in this situation.
Womens Aid are non judgemental and will not push women to end a relationship if they are not ready to. If you are unsure whether what you are experiencing is abuse, or you don't feel ready to leave please still speak to them. They can give you the space and time to make sense of your feelings and there will be no pressure.
What they will do is hold the safety of you and any children you have as a priority and can give you advice on keeping safe. Deleting your internet history if you are seeking advice on abusive relationships on the web for example. They can also advice you on overcoming any practical obstacles that are keeping you in a relationship you want to end, e.g. advice on housing, benefits and legal action.
Seeking help does not commit you to anything and you are certainly not wasting their time. You can always call the helpline anonymously 0808 2000 247.0 -
thanks very much for all your replies.
I must be doing somethings right, have been checking freecycle so thats good, the problem is if is is big things, where to I keep it and how to transport it.
Im also doing the van thing dippy chick and taking everything out of the house that I paid for (if i took anything of his it would be a v bad move), so basicly ive got the kids beds and toys and my bed and wardrobes (that leaves him bedless, oops!)
Im just going to write a list of everything I need and hope maybe I will be eligible for help. God knows how much itll cost to carpet a house, I suppose if i cant get help Ill just have to do it bit by bit. Ive grown up bidgeting so know how to hunt out the cheap stuff so ill be ok on the wee things
Thanks for your post elisamoose, i have a times thought of contacting womans aid, but im not sure if they could do anything ot help me, I would hate to waste their valuable time when they might of been otherwise helping someone in more need or danger.
Thanks for the dodgy hug as well
