Is the 02 wireless broadband any good?

Options
Hi I am considering doing away with my sky package where I get free broadband and also getting my bt phone cut off. (trying to save money). Do you think the o2 wireless router would be ok to run 2 laptops? My son has also got a computer in his room that would need a 'dongle'! would one be provided or do i get a separete one?

Any advice would be great?

You can connect as many wireless points to a wireless router if you like. What you should be looking at is whether the speed of the connection is quick enough for 2 laptops plus a computer.

As for the 'dongle' if the computer doesn't have a wireless network card then you'd need to buy a wireless usb one. Amazon do them for around £10 upwards

I am currently using O2 wireless broadband and we have two laptops at home, a friend visited us and joined us too for few hours, there were no disruptions in the connection when all 3 of us used the connection....

Are you talking about O2 Home Broadband or O2 Mobile Broadband?

The first is just a standard ADSL connection, for which you will need a BT 'phone line. The second uses the O2 mobile nework, and doesn't, but you'll need to be very careful on what you use it for - the monthly download allowances are a pitance compared to ADSL connections. O2 is £20/month for 3GB allowance, then 20p/MB over this (That's over £200 for another 1GB!) .... You'd be better off keeping the BT line and shopping around for a cheap ADSL connection!

Technically, though, yes you could share any connection between two or more machines. You would need some way of connecting them all together though - if sky don't ask for your router back, then you can use all the same kit, subject to some configuration changes.
