Halifax Withdrawing Overdrafts?

Word of warning and wondering if anyone else has experienced this

On thursday I had a call from halifax stating that my overdraft had come up for review and was being removed from my account. Thank goodness my OD was only £120 or i would've well and truly been up the spout.

I've had an OD ever since i opened the account approx 10 years ago and they refused point blank to reinstate it or allow me to pay it off gradually.
Eventually i managed to get them to agree to reinstate it but to lower it over 2 months in 2 payments.

I spoke to the lady in my local branch who told me that atleast 4 customers have experienced the same and even she as a member of staff had her OD facility removed last week.

So just a word of warning. if you have a halifax OD that is coming towards the end of it's term just be a little careful, especially if it is a facility that you rely on or that is rather large. Not trying to scare monger here, just to warn.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

If you have a Halifax account move banks, why anyone would stay with them is beyond me. They even treated my parents badly while mum was in hospital, not to mention what they have done to us over the years.

Just a basic one alleybabes. is a shame as i've never had an issue with halifax and have always found them very good.
The lady on the phone was deliberately antagonistic. asking me why i was shouting at her when i was speaking to her very politely! and also stating that she "was finding the call very difficult" when i challenged her over asking me to borrow the money from a friend. Has kind of soured the apple a little now. I've always recommended them for a good basic account (ie easycash) but am looking to ship out myself now also.

Hi I'm with Alliance and Leicester, have been with them for yonks. Never had any problems with them, I have a Link card for cash withdrawls and can use any Post office to withdraw cash and they do online banking.
    Might be worth a look.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

Where with the halifax and have had problems in the past but the last 18 months trying our best to make sure we are ticking all the right box's.

We have a large overdraft facility and it is up for renewal May 2009. Thankgod we pay £80.00 each week to pay this off . I know it will take 3 1/2 months but this is one of my first priorities and can't wait until I see it back to 0.

I'm with BOS (the other part of halifax now) and have paper free banking. Got a "letter" saying they were reviewing my od facility. I panicked as I'm in it for most of the month as the interest rate is lower than the cc I'm paying off.

The review was supposedly a month or so from the letter date so planned to get myself out of the od and leave the cc overpayments.

BUT about 2 weeks later I got TWO IDENTICAL!!! letters through the post, on the same day saying that they'd recently written to me saying they were REMOVING my od facility (nope they didn't, they were reviewing it) and that it was incorrect and would be in place till May next year at least

I've had SO many problems with bos/hbos over the last while I'm at the end of my tether with them so I'm leaving asap. Due to where I live I'm a bit restricted with the banks available though
