I sent a letter to Inland Revenue about 6 weeks ago stating I was self employed. I haven't received any reply but today I got a bill for £40.90 for national insurance.

I haven't sent in a small earnings exemption yet. If I send this in I shouldn't need to pay this bill, yes?

Phone them up and ask for a small earnings exemption then they'll write off the bill. (That's what I did.) :)

Correct - they're really behind with their paperwork in most offices so you should be fine. It's worth calling them just to be sure though as the NI could be a coincidence (unless it's definitely class 2)

    Hi all,

I have just signed up to Gfk and am going to sign up to all the ones in the list later tonight. Do you all get much evening work or is it mostly days? I can't do days except Sunday and Saturday afternoon but have my evenings free.
