The freebies are usually excellent quality. We had a really smart cooler bag and bum bag when we originally signed up years ago which are still in top nick!! The giveaways are not tacky at all and are really practical things which are suitable for NT members.

ps, National Trust always use local suppliers wherever possible as they have an extremely eco friendly ethos, only using locally sourced, seasonal foods etc, so I would be VERY surprised if they shipped over goods to the UK. Doubt if they would use "Made in China" goods!!!:D

Can you join NT for just one year? Or do they keep taking your money until you cancel? Can't find anything on HUKD. Can anyone help?

re the nz loophole - i would rather the national trust got my money as they are a good company that does important work.

I have went for the deal thanks op, I do feel a bit guilty for not signing up to my own NT but I will be going to their venues and will probably spend some money there.

Yes you can use in Scotland - and a lot less stuffy the volunteers are there too! A real welcome, unlike the often overweening prig-volunteers they seem to attract in English NT properties.
