Ooh, this has reminded me of when I got a new suite & donated my previous one to a hospice furniture charity shop. When the men came to collect it they just couldn't get the sofa, which was quite large, out of the living room. They were trying for well over an hour, twisting & turning it every possible way, saying as it had come in there must be some way of getting it out. In the end they reluctantly had to admit defeat & went off with the chair only.

Incredibly, the only option was the poor sofa, only a couple of years old, had to be chopped & sawn up as the frame wasn't screwed together. :(

I'd only got a new suite as I needed the support from one with a higher back.

Obviously professional removal men really do know their business.:)
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Usually the shortest measurement on a sofa (and the one that will dictate whether or not you need to dismantle to get it through a door) is the VERTICAL distance from the feet to the top of the back of the sofa (minus cushions).

If you haven't got much room to play with (i.e. the corridor / entrance is tight) then you will definitely need to stand it on its end... but it should go.

I dunno, but as I was a Glazier if you have a big front window we
used to take the Double Glazed Unit out of the frame pop the settee through
    and then replace Unit.
