What does 'Conditional Forwarding' mean?

Does anyone know what 'Conditional Forwarding' means?

I get it displayed every time I make a call, before it is connected.

Some background:-
I have a Samsung D500 on an Orange contract.
However, I wanted to use my new o2 contract SIM with the D500.
Assuming the D500 was locked to Orange, I searched the internet, and tried various unlock codes. I 'think' one of them worked (not sure which one!), since I am now able to insert the o2 SIM and make/receive calls.

However.......before any outgoing call is connected, the message 'conditional forwarding' is displayed.
Does that mean anything to do with the call still going through the Orange network?
Will it affect my charges in any way?
I have 400 free minutes with o2 (which is why I want to use the o2 SIM), but want to make sure that they are going through ok. Never seen this message before on any phone.

Cheers,
Don

i think its to do with answerphone divert -you need to cancel the answerphone setup

    btw
there are problems with some of these after unlocking and using on another network
i cant remember if it was the orange ones or the o2 ones
the cure was to reflash with unbranded s/w to get rid of all the network crap

edit - just asked around and told the problem is with unlocking orange branded ones by the free code (instead of direct clip) and then using on o2
this sounds just like what you have done im afraid.

This isn't a problem at all as far as I can tell. Call Forward subject to Condition could be either a divert you probably have to voicemail - the condiiton will probably be - not connected to the network (either phone off or out of coverage), call not answered within a certain amount of time (some handsets let you configure the time period others don't), or when you are on another call. Unconditional Call Forward is when you set up the handset to divert all calls (or types of calls - fax, voice etc.) to a certain number irrespective of the immediate state of your line.

But I get the message on ALL my outgoing calls!

It shouldn't matter whether 'I' have any call divert active (though I didn't think I had anyway).
And I'm sure the numbers I'm calling don't have any call diverts active - I called my wife's mobile and my home phone - neither have any sort of call divert.
So I'm doubting this message has anything to do with call divert.

If it IS to do with the unlocking of the D500, is it likely to have any effect on phone bill? Or is it just an annoying message I have to put up with each time I make a call?

    Cheers,
    Don

the unlocking problem is due to a bug in the orange s/w that only shows when unlocked by code and used on o2 - shouldnt effect your bill

I think it is about whether you have a divert active. Your phone or network won't know whether the other party has divert active or not.

Hmmm...I'll just have to plead ignorance.

    I just don't understand how a 'call divert' would/should affect 'out-going' calls.
I would have thought that a 'call divert' would divert 'incoming' calls to some other number - maybe another mobile or land-line.

On the other hand, I 'might' understand that if I called a number that had a call divert, that I might be informed that my 'out-going' call was being forwarded to a different number.

From what is being said, this isn't what happens. Fair enough.

So long as I'm not going to be charged anything extra, I guee I'll just have to put up with the annoying messages.
Unless the Orange software can be corrected/over-written.......?

you can reflash it your self if you feel confident
you need the cable and s/w like this
    http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/samsungremoteunlock.htm
(where it says: Samsung D500/D500e De-Brand Flash Pack)
i use the usb type which is quicker- not used them before and you can prob get it cheaper elsewhere but it was to give you an idea.
otherwise get it done at a reputable unlocking shop or send to someone who can do it for you
