Can anyone recommend a bank that WILL give me a debit card with adverse credit (I wish they would make a human decision based on facts now rather than the computer scoring which is from long ago!)0

Highly unlikely as any bank employee is scared of their own shadow and unable to take any initiative in overriding a credit scoring system that is based on historical gossip mongering. I have the same problem, despite assets exceeding my liabilities by a factor of 25!
Good luck, if you get any success let me know!Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I have found an institution that has a 90% success rate in getting you a debit card - it costs £49 for them to find you an account with all the facilities you want (refundable in the event of a refusal) so that's worth it for me.0

I'll tell you for free - they'll tell you to go to the Co-Op for the Cashminder account, or Natwest for the STEP account. These guys have no influence whatsoever over the actual decision process.
Abbey will also upgrade basic accounts after 6 months of perfect behaviour.0 -
Do Abbey not check the credit scoring after six months then?0

If you've run an account fed by regular salary credits and no unauthorised overdrafts for a period of six months, it can do wonders for your credit score with that organisation!Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

Which Organisations are you referring to?
I have held my account with HSBC since 2000, with a solo debit card, but now I want to upgrade it to a Switch/Maestro card.
I there is regulars moneys going in the account over £1000 a month (not salary). I have also recently been granted a £400 overdraft and a £1800 HSBC credit card since Oct 2005.I have a cheque book, and the account has been in good conduct for over a year, and is used daily!
Do I have a chance for a upgrade? Experiences and thoughts welcome.0 -

RichyRich - you need addresses over the past six years when you apply for your credit report because that's how long the agencies' records go back. You also need to provide your date of birth. JJ“Official Company Representative

Whenever I see such posts on this site it always seems to be problems with Nationwide!
Does anyone know why?0
