Advice on O2 PAYGO mobile

RussetRed,
Nell's advice was good. I had (still have, in a drawer!) a K800i - supplied unlocked on an O2 contract a couple of years ago and now with a Virgin PAYG SIM in it.
It's a great little 'phone and what it does do it does very reliably and well. Recommended.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Hello again Russetred
You have been getting lots of advice since I last looked at this thread! If you don't like your current phone, and it is locked to Vodafone (and you have finished your contract) then they should be able to unlock it for you for free by giving you a code. Give them a ring and ask them. I think I read on their website that they will even unlock phones before contracts end these days and that they will not be supplying locked phones again in the future! (About time too!)
When you've got it unlocked, sell it on ebay (you'll get more for it by unlocking it first) and then put the proceeds towards a phone that you do like which you can use with an O2 pay as you go sim.
Leopard and I are still voting for the K800i as a really good choice and I am truly amazed by how reasonably priced it now is for what it is able to do and the general build quality. (I used mine this afternoon on a trip out as a sat-nav (with the addition of a little GPS bluetooth receiver,) to check my email and to take photos as well as the standard stuff like texts and a couple of phonecalls. The battery lasts well even with fairly intensive use for a variety of functions like this. I did use a Nokia 6300 for a while, and it can do most of the things that the k800i can and it does feel classy, but the battery performance simply does not compare. Let us know if there is anything particular you'd like to know about it and hopefully we'll be able to help you.0
