Streaming media to my PS3! ARGH!

Options
Right, I need some help guys. Last night I set my desktop, laptop and PS3 up to access the internet wirelessly. Today I've decided to share files over my network. Let me start by saying that all my music, video, docs ect are on my XP desktop. I've managed to share this with my Vista laptop no problem, but now I'm trying to get my PS3 to stream meadia from my desktop. I've managed to connect my Vista laptop no problem at all but the desktop is a different story.

If you follow this link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/howto/mp11/sharemedia.aspx
it shows diagrams so I can point out where I'm having the problem. I open WMP 11, go to Library, click on media sharing (pic 1) and then tick the box that says share my media (pic 2). However, when I click ok, instead of getting the box in pic 3 where I can select the devices I wish to allow, my machine hangs for a few seconds and remains on the box in pic 2, if I click ok again it does it again!

I've tried reinstalling WMP11 and disabling my firewall and it makes no difference! Can anyone offer any support!?

Can you go to Start / Run and type in services.msc then browse to "'Windows Media Player Sharing Service" and check if it's started, if it's not started then you need to start that then go back into Media Player and try sharing again.

I've just done that and got an error message saying "Could not start the Windows Media Player Newtwork Sharing Service service on local computer. Error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed to start".

    Any ideas??

You will need to start all the dependant sevices first, these are:

    Application Layer Gateway Service
    Network Connections
    Network Location Awareness (NLA)
    Plug and Play
    Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
    Remote Access Connection Manager
    Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    Telephony

Once you've done that, try again.

I don't know the ins and outs I'm afraid, but we use tversity, never had any probs so far.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.

I've just checked and all but Telephony were already started. I started telephony and tried again but got the same message, I don't get what the problem is!

Sorry, I missed 'SSDP Discovery Service' & 'HTTP SSL' from my first list.

right click on it > select properties and change the startup type to one of the other options (manual i think) then start shouldnt be greyed out

Ok, I've now made sure they're all enabled and tried to start Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service but get the same error message!
