POssibility of going back to CCCS with tail between legs !?!

Ok been thinking a lot, once the tax credits go down, going to leave us with a shortfall of approx £300 per month, now i know i should be able to cust down on some spending, but probably not to the tune of £300 so even though i just stopped going through CCCS and am currently going it alone - do you think i will be able to start again with them? I'm in 2 minds to be honest - coz im thinking if our wages (commission based) go up even by small amount we could probably over the shortfall, but as in most things in life this is not a certainty. any advise - feel like if im doing this on my own i can over pay and therefore hopefully have an earlier DFD as opposed to min payments through CCCS - on a plus tho the CCCS will deal with creditors and it will be one set payment per month? what does everyone think?

I prefer doing it on my own, never found CCCS helpful BUT if you need the help and support with less flexability then you can go back with them. At the end of the day its whats best for you that matters.

they were helpful in the fact that they dealt with the creditors but having just sorted arrangements myself with most of them i feel like it may be a backward step - the only thing worrying me is if my money goes down and i dont have enough some months to meet my agreed repayments...

    Dottyanne,

I think you know what I'm going to say, go back to CCCS or try Payplan, CCCS are fantastic, I have heard of one or two cases where people didn't rate them, but in the main, I think you would benefit from them greatly, your OH isn't on board yet and this could just get him to have his LBM, if you see what I mean.

Work out your payments on the lowest guaranteed income you have.

well he is on board 'ish' - he didnt see why i would leave them in the first place, but i thought i could sort them myself and to a certain extent i have - the largets debt to egg over was over 20K and now stands at just over 18K as ive been making payments of £150 per month directly - just wanted to get these shut of asap.

BH - what if ive already made agreements with them and my money goes down - do you think they would re-negotaite to a lesser amount?

Things happen, circumstances happen. What you need to do is let your creditors know the situation if you are not going to be able to pay the arrangements you currently have. Whether you think it will be easier for you to convince them that it is beyond your control or whether you would benefit from having CCCS on your side, I guess only you would know. I would think that CCCS would have more clout than you would and would be able to get them to accept your change of circumstances more easily but it is up to you.
    Good Luck whatever you decide.

Yes just re-do your SOA and keep everyone informed. Also speak to CCCS to see if you will have enough disposable income for them to help. Our problem is according to them we have no disposable income.

I have read on this forum and other forums that this is quite often the case with the CCCS, when quite clearly as BH is showing by repaying her debts doing her own DMP that she does have more than enough left to repay creditors.

I think the CCCS must over inflate the cost of living or something? What are your thoughts on this BH? (Sorry DA, not hijacking thread).

Well they do give you recommendations on amounts that you should spend for things like food, clothes etc - when you probably would try not to spend that much, thsu havingmore cash to throw at debts?

I think they have to allow a reasonable amount. Yes you could obviously spend less than the guidlines by cooking everything from scratch but I guess they have to allow for the fact that half the country don't know how to cook , and not everyone can get hold of cheap ingredients, can drive to a supermarket etc. I think it depends where you live in the country as well - some places are obviously cheaper but it is easier for them just to have one figure that everyone should be able to adhere to.
