Hi Snaggles, what is happening on the extension front. Are you getting close to putting in plans yet?

Hi lucielle, the architect has been round, had a look at the plot, measured up and gone away to draw his first draft of the plans - he says he will email them to us so we can ask any questions/request any changes etc, and once we are happy with them, he will draw up the final plans. I've never used an architect before so I've no idea how long these things take, but I'm soooooo excited! I keep wanting to ring him and say 'are they done yet'. :D

Afternoon - just had the very scary experience of renewing my tax credits! Now I just have to wait for them to write and let me know how much I owe them . I was so confused by all the different figures, I had to post on the tax credits board for advice.

I've got to go into school later because Ryan has won another award for good work :j, and they have a weekly assembly where they present the certificates so that parents can go to watch. Luckily Ryan's teacher wont be there, so i wont be tempted to go and throttle him.

Ryan came home from school really upset yesterday because he had been sent out of class 'for being grumpy'. I'm sure there was more to it than that, but either a) he has been sent out for a ridiculous reason, or b) it hasn't been made clear to him exactly why he was sent out. Either way, he was really unhappy and confused. He also said some of his friends have been making up songs about him, saying how thick he is and how he is always in trouble. Poor little guy.

I'm wondering if the teacher would consider doing a lesson about differences and disabilities, specifically focussing on Aspergers Syndrome. I know there are 30 kids in the class and the teacher has to make sure they all get attention, but I'm thinking that if his friends understood his condition better, they might be more tolerant of him, which would make life easier for his teacher, and school more pleasant for Ryan, so everyone would benefit.

Lol, Mrs S I know what you mean about tax credits. I had the annual review thingy and I phoned to let them know that my childcare costs that they had were in actual fact less than what I paid, which he said was fine. I then said I took part in the old Childcare VOucher scheme at work and I have a salary sacrifice of £243 to which he replied 'Oh, I'll just write that down ' Standby big bill lol

Hi El4L, hope you are well hunny

Lenny, that's exactly what I'm expecting too - but I'm trying to console myself by thinking at least if I have to pay some back, it's basically an interest free loan, and if I have to have any sort of loan, an interest free one would be my favourite kind! :rotfl:

Awww, Ryan's assembly was fab - his award was for a 'performance poem' (how very bohemian!) which he stood up in assembly and acted out. He looked quite terrified bless him, but he did it really nicely. :T :A

Oh, and Tasha has a new tooth......hurray! :D

Len - you can't claim the vouchers and the CTC childcare element, so I'm afraid you'll be getting a big bill

Is that right Gemmzie? I thought you could, but you might end up slightly worse off by doing both depending on your circumstances? I suppose it would depend on whether the whole amount of the childcare was covered by the vouchers maybe?

  • All good then at the assembly, so glad it went well. I hope you get some joy soon from the school.
