Reclaiming child tax credit

Why thank you

How can Alison be sneering at you when she has been in your shoes
You'll have to ask her that, I'm afraid. If she was aiming it at you, she would have posted the above and added your name to it, but seeing as though she was replying to somebody else and quoting them too, it wasn't meant for you personally at all.
Well, we can disagree about that for as long as you please. The fact that she didn't quote me doesn't mean that her comment wasn't aimed at the OP.We are all responsible for our actions and it's no use getting the hump with people here because TC told you something you didn't want to hear.
Riiiight. Now we are talking about something completely different. I am, as you rightly say, responsible for my own actions. What I'm not responsible for, however, is the government setting an arbitrary cut off of 3 months for claiming back tax credits at a time when you have more upheaval in your life than you've ever experienced before. You got 3 months back, be greatful for that.
Oh dear - seems like the pomposity is spreading. I'll be grateful if I get back my full entitlement and not before, thanks. If the cash was that important to you when the baby was born, I'm sure you would have applied back then wouldn't you?
Nope. How would I apply for something I didn't know existed, pray tell?Basically you want to know what you can tell TC, so that they will backdate it right back to when the baby was born ~ maybe nobody here has done that successfully, but give the thread a chance instead of having a pop at people who are taking their time to respond to you.
I'm only responding in kind. Is it the conventional wisdom on this forum that a reply of any kind, no matter how meritworthy or useful, should be treated with some kind of reverence?0 -

Dear oh dear - we've moved into the realm of self-righteous martyrdom now. How twee.0 -
You have nothing to be grateful for because the (correct) advice provided is not what you wanted to hear.
Well, if you mean it was about as useful as a catflap on a submarine then you're right.Because we didnt all say *tell this lie and you'll get it backdated* you turned on the agressive *charm* ~ thats not what we are about at mse.
Not aggressive in the slightest. Straight talking and no nonsense but I'd never dream of using aggression towards anyone. You are either an extreemly pompus twat
Quite lucky I found this place then, it feels as though I've inadvertently stumbled into a meeting of pompous posters anonymous.or your a troll.
Nah, if I were into trolling I'd search out somewhere a little more high-brow and challenging.I bid you goodnight

Hmmmm, I'm struggling to understand why it was useless

Actually, I'm with you on this. There should be a pack of some sort, about the financial side when you've just had a baby, which could be given to the Mother of the child when they are checked out of the hospital/given by the midwife at home etc
I know each Mother is (or should) given a pack about claiming child benefit, but there really should be one explaining Tax Credits too.
It's not your fault, it's not our fault, it's not TC's fault, so who exactly can be to blame?
Saying that though, what if you didn't realise until your child was (for example) 5 years of age? Would you expect to be backdated 5 years worth?
There has to be a cut off point somewhere and TC state it is 3 months ~ surely that is better than nothing?
Maybe contact the CAB and see if they can advise you because it looks like nobody's help or advice here is good enough for you.
You seem to know all about internet forums even though you are a new user here, so surely you would have the nouse to look up these things on the net if they are needed at the time?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Whoops - I may have been mistaken. Have I just stumbled into "The Jeremy Kyle Show Online".
lol its funny you have the time to post rubbish comments on here and watch jeremy kyle, but you dont have the time to find out what benefits you're entitled to!
i cant be bothered with this anymore, good luck getting what you're "entitled to", your BABY deserves it, not you.0 -
Did it provide me with a means to reclaim the tax credits that I unwittingly missed out on claiming? That was the reason that I started this thread, after all.
You DONT have a legitimate reason to claim it ~ ergo our advice was not useless just not what you wanted to hear ~ why is that so hard to understand :heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! For crying out loud, you had your answer from the horses mouth, how can we advise you if the TC's people can't?
Why not ring them back and get to speak to somebody else and see what advice they can give you.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
