Here you go £5 off £99 + SpendSAVE50

Dixons have already a number of discount codes ...
SAVE5 - £5 0ff a £99+ shop
SAVE10 - £10 off a £299+ shop
etc
and today they introduced a new code VAT15 to get a further 2.13% off due to the impending VAT cut.
Only problem is you cant combine the two! Put in the second and it erases the first!
Typical Dixons (DSG) scam - why does anyone shop there?0 -
Hardly a scam, it is quite common for stores to only allow you to use one discount code per order.
By the time the VAT drop actually happens they will reduce their prices as standard meaning that won't need to use a code, then you can use the SAVE codes AND benefit from the VAT reduction at the same time. So just wait a few days.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

OK we shall see if the item I wanted to buy actually drops by 2.13% from it's current stated price today.
It is a Samsung NC10 netbook - it's price yesterday was £293 - it's price today went up to £295 - I wonder what it's price will be on 1st December?
I think it's safe to assume that it will be more than today - enough said!
The thread title aptly describes what Dixons and the whole of the DSG empire is up to!0 -

its not just dixons, look at our energy companies, they arnt reducing thier prices neither are petrol pumps,
VAT will probably have no effect unless companies actually reduce the VAT on products without raising the cost of the product excluding VAT.0 -
Hardly a scam!
They probably will not bother reducing their prices for a few quid either!
I am not reducing my prices as I've already got stuff reduced to try and sell it in these hard times so I am not reducing it further, but businesses cannot AFFORD to impliment the changes this crackpot circus clown run Government has implemented by Monday. You've a code to get the discount then use it and you'll save on your VAT.
I am pretty sure they can charge what they want. If you do not like it go shop elsewhere.
On top of this they are going to have other costs to recover such as getting people in doing extra hours to make the changes and to get their accounting systems sorted. I've another VAT return to do by Monday before the new rate comes in and I've not even finished the last quarters one the last one that is due on Sunday!
The point of the reduction is that is businesses are struggleing the extra 2p in the £1 will pay for staff to keep their jobs rather than losing. There is a far bigger picture here than just getting the 2.13% discount on something off by Monday.0 -

VAT on energy is only charged at 5% if you look at your bill.
I do not know why everyone is getting so worked over 20p discount on a £10 purchase anyway! I can't sell stuff at 70% discount let along 2.5%!0 -
I think its naive to expect many/any retailers to pass on the saving. To be fair the agro its going to cause redoing all the systems to calculate vat at 15% overall they probably won't be much better off if they leave prices as they are.0
