help giving negative feedback

I bought a mp3 player recently which I had to return, I got the blame because I did not know how to work it! (the instructions were useless) they sent me an other with a note that they would not replace again. It will not play either, they are not replying to my emails,

the listing said
Warranty: full UK 6 Months warranty from the date of purchase. If the item is defective, we will replace it. The warranty/guarantee will not cover the item that has been damaged by the buyer through neglect or mistreatment. All postage fees are at buyer's costs.

I contacted ebay but have not heard from them yet, I know I will not get my money back now.
I would really like some help wording some good negatve feedback please.
PS for some strange reason they have not left me any feedback yet and I paid quickly through paypal, must be waiting for my response.
thanks for any help

    I find

    "Robbing Tvvat"

    very effective in such cases
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.
  • I would put
"Item defective. Seller gives warranty but won't replace."

    That's only 67 characters though.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
  • If you paid by paypal you can report through paypal. They are pretty quick and tend to suspend the sellers account (which is a big hassle if the user is a powerseller), Worth a try to try and get your cash back.

wouldnt neg him yet. I think (can someone confirm) that if you wait for 59 day and neg on 60 days you lose the right the leave feedback, therefore if you wait they may think you have given up, then find a neg at the last minute at which point they cant reply. (I think I am going to do it to a non payer i am having problems with)
  • use ebay tiawan and get 125 letters to leave feedback with

Did you express a desire to try and troubleshoot the problem you are having with the seller? What exactly is the problem you are having? A very large number of people have problems with MP3 players, due to inadequate instructions, compatibility problems and a whole host of other associated problems with something that can be regarded as a specialised piece of computer hardware.

I don't think you should be considering leaving feedback until you are ready to give up and throw the player in the bin (you have 90 days to leave feedback, and it seems to be possible to leave it even after that time has passed). I also do not think you can rely on ebay/paypal in this situation as it boils down to a judgement call on their part.

    thanks for the good advice,
they did not send any instuctions with the second player apart from some images on how to load it, which I knew but followed. I have tried to contact them about the player not working after loading it, only reply I had was that I put too many tracks on which I don't know if this is right or wrong.
I filled our other sony mp3 player until it was full
PS another person bought one about the same time and left to the point negative feedback which they responded with similar negatve feedback which I would like to avoid

The feedback cut off time is 90 days but even after that it is sometimes possible to leave feedback.

You can do this, I have used it in the past - but ebay will now remove any feedback left via the taiwan site if the recipient complains, regardless of the content.

The seller should really be asking these questions, but: does the player work properly with just a few mp3s loaded? Have you tried mp3s from different places (look for some free downloads on the internet)? The other option you have is to contact other people who have bought this mp3 player and ask them if they've had any problems and if they were able to solve them.

However this turns out, if the seller has given you a useless after-sales service, then you should comment on this in the feedback you leave. As a buyer, any negative feedback you get in return is not really going to harm you and a carefully worded reply can often make the person leaving it look like the bad guy, not you.
