Would a water meter help cut down on the water bill?

    Hi indebt,

I lost a lot of money when I couldn't work and was treated for skin cancer, so I know what its like. Getting back can be slow, and sometimes you do feel you are being asked to push a boulder up a hill while riding a unicycle and juggling chainsaws (ie you're tired and ill, the situation's impossible and dangerous), but there is another side. I still have £4k outstanding, but feel that I can breathe again and things are back in the manageable zone. This will be you a few years from now with luck.

Evening all, Been getting all the paper work together, I have some money in my paypal account which is bout £50 i am going to pay it off one of the lower debts so i can get it out the way and pay that extra money toward next less one.

Is that a best way to do it???

Forgot to say on the SOA that the loans are for 10 yrs and we had them over 2 yrs now. We have cancelled the tv and cooker insure just hope they dont break down now!!!1 I well know for bad luck!!!!!

Which is another £9 toward a debt. Have bout 40 items to list on ebay tonight. My hubby understand what mess we are in and is trying hard.
Made a list of stuff we need for food shopping next week. i am going to do asda online cos i got a free delivery code and then i wont pick up things i dont need. I am really bad at that. When i am at home 3 days a week i try not to spend anything. When i go to work i try and leave debit card at home and take luch with me and £1 for a drink.

Tomorrow i am going to phone the water company and ask why sooooo long wait for the metar.

I had a good afternoon thinking bout what we can do to save some money and try and cut the food shopping down we spend bout £100-£120 a month for both of us. I have sorted hubby old clothes for being recycle and kept the best for ebay. Space in cardboard now.

I feel loads better typing what i been doing and how i am feeling. I feel like i am getting some where if u know what i mean. I am going to do it, I know i am going to have my up and down days, Hey that life it always something going on. I am home tomorrow with a list off things i going to sort out.

Thank you for listen to me.

On the debt front. Got pay today. So will be paying bills later and up dating them in the next few days.

I did'nt get any ebay done last night so i gonna do it this morning. Washing in the machine and is gonna be line dry. Dinner is in the freeze so hopefully a no spend day for me. :)

Hubby not doing a bootfair this sunday cos he going to a family bbq while i am at work all day :( I was looking at ipod on ebay yesterday to see if i can get a cheap one, but i told myself i dont need one and to pay the money off the debt. Hubby at work 7am-6pm so a long day home alone some times can be boring. Dont have many friends round her to go and see.

YOu seem to have had your LBM a little while ago and are doing well. Just keep plugging away and of course keep an eye on your health - that is more important.

    keep posting
  • Hi Indebt. You are doing really well.

Just keep going and doing what you are doing, and you will really see how quickly things can get better.

I would concentrate on throwing as much money at the debts with the highest interest rates, these are likely to be the store cards with the relatively low balances. Get these cleared and soon you will have an £60 per month to put to Barclaycard and speed up that repayment.

Also check out a snowball calculator that will show how paying off the highest rate debts will help at http://www.whatsthecost.com/snowball.aspx

Can't rate this highly enough. This will give you your debt free date (based on minimum payments, paying highest interst rate first). The date can be scary but it does give you something to work with. My first DFD was from 2006 to 2011; by paying extra money to highest interest debt first we've reduced this to December 2009; every month shaved is money in your pocket at the end but I do warn you - it is highly addictive.

It can also be quite boring, relentless and monotonous. Especially once the first flush of enthusiasm passes. At that point you can either fall off the wagon or join a challenge or two (grocery budget, make £10 a day etc). DH and I tend to have a really tight month (no unecessary spending, throwing all spare money at debts, using food from freezer / store cupboard only buying perishables etc) after that we have a slightly relaxed month and we do feel quite flush!

Good luck with it - I know you'll do well.
