Please can someone help,
I have a website selling my handmade toys, I searched myself on google today and found a site that was about me and my toys so I clicked on it and....oh my! very rude and x-rated material!!
I don't understand how this can happen, I want to know if it can be removed because if someone clicks on it thinking they are going to find out about my toys for children they are going to be in for a big shock. I don;t want this linked to me.
Please what can I do?

Do a WHOIS search on the owner of the domain hosting the unwanted pages and contact them first. It is also possible that Google has somehow misfiled you - does the Google cache contain the same bad info? If this is of sufficient commercial interest to you, there is a specialist service out there where pros can have things removed for you (they have powers of persuasion).0

Thanks for your help buglawton,
when I click 'cache' it says no document found
I looked up address on whois and got this :
Status: clientTransferProhibited
If it is a google mix up do I try and contact google?
thanks0 -
Google will be difficult to get a response from - I suggest prepare the case more carefully first. If you like you can PM me some details eg your real site link, your search terms and then the link of the offending site.
( I can try to get more info about the real hosting location of the unwanted site - sometimes use methods to do this sort of thing to prevent fraud with our own online business)0 -
OK it looks like the hosting co info is to be found here:
http://whois.domaintools.com/netfirms.com
they are probably not aware if what is being hosted.
Netfirms, Inc.
5160 Yonge St. #1800
Toronto, ON M2N 6L9
CANADA
416-661-2100 fax: 416-661-0700
I suggest email them the details including the exact address of the offending page and follow up by phone one day later for an acknowledgement.
The reason that this comes up in page 2 of the search is the the author of this dodgy site has used search engine spamming words (and copied chunks of text from other sites) and you are the unlucky recipient. A UK only search will not find this site.
Also: The behaviour of that site is highly suspect - I would do a careful scan for spyware and viruses if you got as far as viewing it (I did not, I killed my Browser instead of responding to the prompts to download etc).0 -
Thank you so much for your help, I will follow your advice!0

Might be an idea to FAX them as well, that might get noticed a bit quicker than an email0
