    Hi Dave,

For absolute clarity i would ring the insolvency helpine and ask (anon) them.

TBH once the banks find you are BR anyway the accounts are normally frozen then closed, with the exception of some basic accounts (co-op barclays) which are frozen and can be defrosted:D by the OR.

I presume the OR has said they are not interested in the account and have told the bank? If this is the case then it is upto the bank to unfreeze it, which they may or may not do depending on whether they are BR friendly or not.
Assuming the OR has told the bank that they are not interested then you need to speak to the bank and ask them to unfreeze it.

Once the bank have been told by the OR that they have no interest in the account they can unfreeze it pretty much immediatley.

You may think this a silly question but
You talk of bank accounts being frozen!!
Is this with funds still in it?
If so can they do that? legally?
    And
If so, how does one withdraw these funds (ie non Barclays or co-op accounts)

Dont slap me down too hard for asking this question..

    Hi Debbs,

Yes they freeze them with funds in. You cannot withdraw anything until the OR has told the bank they don't want the funds.

The OR will usually tell the bank that you use for your salary and bills that they have no interest in this account as soon as you are bankrupt and you can carry on as normal. (as long as it's not OD and included in your bankruptcy)

    Hi peachy,

i've just got my letter regarding OR interview on 27th June. It says nothing regarding my Bank Account although when i spoke to them yesterday morning they said they would contact the bank and inform them they had no interest in my account. i thought they may have been a comment to this effect in the letter.

Do you think i shold contact my bank and see if they have had contact or give it a couple of days?? I get my salary paid in at the end of the month so i've got some time until then but wasnt sure exactly what the correct procedure is too. Also i have a couple of DD's to come out..not sure exactly what dates..will they be declined if the Account is still frozen??

    Dave.

If you still have funds in the bank and it gets frozen, once the OR has told them that they have no interest then the bank will usually unfreeze it (at the request of the OR) to allow you to withdraw your funds and then close it altogether.

Sometimes the banks don't actually close the account until some time later though.

I didn't receive anything saying they weren't interested in my lloyds account in writing, just told me on the phone.
Presumably you have a coop or barclays account? .. might be worth a quick call just to check as if it has been frozen your DD's will fail.
