Hi
I am having a house built and am at the stage where I can choose what form of energy to install. Can anyone advise which would be the best choice at this time?
Thanks
Toni

Depends on what your priorities & preferences are...0

At the moment it is a no contest - gas is cheapest!
UNLESS
Your budget runs to having a Ground Source Heat Pump(GSHP) fitted.
However what is best today, does not mean it will be best in a couple of years.
I speak as someone who, on the advice of Which some years ago, changed my CH to oil as it was the cheapest form of energy at that time; the people I sold the house to changed it to gas!0 -
I guess it depends on your lifestyle, if you spend alot of time at home I guess Gas or perhapse Oil, Im only saying that as I hear alot of people saying the price of oil has shot up 60-70% in the last couple of years. Perhapse another option depending where you live might be wood? I have known a couple of people say in a well insulated house wood easily gives out enough heat.
I however have gone with electric due to the zero cost in maintenance and ok it is expensive when you have the heating on (mines typically 100-120 per month) but now the warmer weather is here my electric bill has dropped down to 50-60/month. Also have no maintenance contract to pay and negligible depreciation.
Very much depends on you're lifestyle. Baring in mind there is a 40% increase in energy set for this year so get capped if you haven't done so already
