    Well today I have:
    - checked online abnking for dh and myself (As expected)
-Joined jackpotjoy via quidco for the cashback.
-Will cook stroecupboard dinner and had leftovers for lunch
    -had a NSD!
That's about it I think. I will update my quidco as much as I can before the baby is born. Trying to make £300 before then. I'm on £217 now with another £15 to come.

Ok, I am full of questions today lol, but need some opinions:

I have a debt coming to an end, with a family member. Its was a huge amount and should have been paid back a long time ago. They have been very patient with us, and understood that things were tough. The debt ends next week, and I would like to do something to say thank you. I thought it might be nice to buy a meal out voucher for him and his OH, but I am torn! Is it too much? Can I really afford it? I was thinking £30 voucher would cover a nice meal out, but I am also thinking that that is almost the same amount to clear my next debt. Maybe I could do something else, but what? I shall of course get a nice thank you card :)
  • Champagne always goes down well too ;) I had a promo email from somerfield today and they have some proper stuff for 9.99, don't know how good it'd be but it can't be that bad, french and fizzy mmmm

Hey cleosmum... you should be able to get a 1-4 travelcard when you get here, that's what I always used to get for my sis when she came up for the day when I lived in zone 3. If you do the oyster thing not sure how it works with zones... my work pay for my travelcard :o best perk ever! I'll get a leaflet from the tube for you 2mw if you like and see what would work out best.

PS for the under 11s you need to get the attention of a member of staff to let them through I think, that's what I see mini people doing (but you don't get many on the tube the times I travel!)

Thanks Claire! I spent ages looking at the page last night! Just having another look and zone 1-4 is £8 a day, which is cheaper than the 1-6 which is £40 for 3 days. Its mad that it was cheaper to get TO london than it is to go ROUND london lol. DS is over 11 so has to have a visitors zip oyster for free travel (£5 deposit refundable) and the under 11s can go free without a photocard as long as I use a manned barrier to go through.

I suppose if I got an oyster card it would cost the same as if I bought a travelcard?! God I am such a tourist :rotfl: (and I hate tourists, no patience with em lol).

Thanks for your help, I might have it sorted by the time we go, failing that I could always wing it

    Hi everyone.
Changed my hours recently to start at eight and finish at four and have found it so much better all round. I get a lovely pester free hour each morning to get stuck into my paperwork and can nip down to veggie garden and greenhouse at 4pm to do bits and pieces.
Just been down there and have returned with loads of rhubarb, big bowl of gooseberries, lots of radishes, handful of strawberries ,salad leaves and chives.:j Lovely free goodies:j

Spent £1.20 today on an organic butternut squash for tea but have saved the seeds to dry out for next year so not too bad - blew my no- spend day though:rolleyes:

:grouphug: Hugs to Andan -- hope you feel better soon, I hate being ill I get frustrated when I can't get on with stuff. ;)

Cleosmum - sounds like that trip to London is well on the way to being sorted dfw style:T :T :T

Falady - well done on the piggy win:j I've been doing those quizzes forever but never won one, "know" lots of people on these boards who have though.:D

Have to mak.e tea now, catch up with you all later

Done the usual today, and also got that make up palette that Bagpuss suggested :)

Had to buy a few presents for a new mum who's also having a birthday on Saturday, so that was about £20 out of my budget.

Got my Vanquis card! £250 credit limit LOL. NO SPENDING ON IT THOUGH!

Oystercards are a little bit different - more like pay-as-you-go mobiles, so 90p for a bus ride, 1.50 for an off-peak tube journey (I think!!), so if you're doing lots of hopping on and off, a travelcard would be better, but if you're doing lots on foot, an oystercard might be best. They are a bit of a faff to sign up for from memory, but really handy if you live here :o

Word of advice - if you're thinking of doing the london dungeon book in advance, I have an audit opposite the entrance and it is totally backed-up with 2 hour queues at peak times  it's quite scary (OK very scary, I screamed 4 times :o ) if your kids are big enough to enjoy it! Avoid madame tussauds - rip off... london eye definitely worth it but make sure you get a guide so you know what you're looking at (or take me up with you ;) )

let me know if you have any questions or want any ideas - I honestly don't mind!

Today, I have been into town to get Corned Beef from Lidl for 76p, it is currently £1.18 up from 72p last week:eek: , no way on earth I was paying that.

Got a free shampoo with my Boots points.

Walked in the rain cause I wouldn't pay the £1.00 bus fare.

Came home and received a £100 cheque from my FIL in the post, as I was speaking to him the other night and during a conversation I said "no, I can't justify paying xxx for that" it was something I liked but not needed, I am gonna phone at 6 cause I get free calls then to thank him....I'm only being frugal and purchase things on a need and not want policy. I had the money in the bank and it was only a fiver, bless him. I keep going onto him about this site, goodness knows what hes thinking.

Applied for a credit card via Quidco just for the cash back, I will cancel it in a few months time.
