I cant check my ps3 settings just now as my kids are watching a film on it...

I will check later if your still having problems.

its in the settings part of the XMB under sound settings
  • I am using a HDMI cable for the TV, and I have changed the sound settings on the PS3 from HDMI to optical cable. Still no joy.

I think you need to go into Settings on the PS3, Sound Settings, and then Audio Output Settings.
  • I have done that Marty but still nothing coming out of the cinema kit. Surely if it has an optical port, then it should work? The optical cable is brand new as well.

When you went into the Audio Output Settings, what one did you choose in the optical menu? Dolby 5.1 is probably the safest choice as far as compatibility is concerned.

Have you cycled through all of the options (TV, AUX, VCR, EXT, Tuner and DVD) on your surround receiver? What are you using to test the sound coming from the PS3? Is it a game, CD, DVD or SACD?
  • I have it sussed now. I checked the connections again. The home cinema kit comes it 2 parts and I connected the cable to the part that was not the surround receiver. Doh! Anyway connected it properly and it now works a treat. Cheers for your help guys.

Glad you got it sorted. I usually spend 20 minutes trying to figure out why something isn't working, only to discover that I haven't plugged it in. :D
