Chinese supermarkets sell it in large bags for about £2.50.

You beat me too it. I went to a chinese supermarket in Birmingham just last week. They were selling it in huge buckets for less than a fiver. I almost bought some but it was cash only and I only had a tenner on me.

What do they use it for?

I've often wondered-I don't think it's for cleaning as the bicarb is with the food items

  • I went to Wilkos and bought some in the end - but I also e-mailed Sainsbury's to ask why they didn't stock it and they wrote back saying that no-one had ever asked before and they didn't think that there was any demand. I don't know if other people are having difficulties whether anyone else has e-mailed them (or Mr T's etc) if not it might be worth doing to try to help them appreciate that there is a market for it!

I am trying to be more OS and I know that I have seen references to using this around the house but I can't remember in what way. I'm afraid that I still probably use too many chemicals?:o Could anyone out there give me some tips about the best uses please?

Some of the OS experts will be able to help you more, but to my knowledge Bicarb can be used to get rid of/neutralise smells, and as an abrasive cleaner, for cleaning surfaces.

    Hi mumofour,

I've added your thread to an earlier one on using bicarb that should help.

    These links are good too:

I expect this is in the link, but if you put it in smelly trainers it deoderises them.

I popped some into the fridge at the weekend for a day to deodorise (?) it due to something nasty lurking at the back and it worked great.

The instruction on the box was to open the box and leave in the fridge but I just put some in a dish at the bottom of the fridge.
