 Well, my first wholemeal sandwich loaf was ready at 6am. It didn't rise, felt a bit squidgy and I've just made sandwiches with it....tasteless and too moist
I followed the Panasonic recipe to the letter - so what's gone wrong?
Do I add Vit C? Less water than the recipe states?
At least the birds will have something to eat later on
I'll try a different one tonight.

Has the panasonic got different settings for different loaves?
My Morphy Richards has,so if you cook the wholemeal on the white loaf setting,it hasnt had long enough to rise. You do have to make sure you follow the amounts to the letter on mine too,if you put even a little bit too much water in,it doesnt come out right.0 -
There will lots of trials and errors at the beginning. My birds have done quite well out of me! It sounds like maybe too much water or milk. I didn't use enough salt in my sasame seed loaf last night and it was a bit tasteless, still managed to eat it though!! Keep trying, I found the quick bake white recipe the easiest to learn. Have you checked the date on the yeast? It's also really important to add the ingredients in exactly the order they are listed. Good luck0

I used milk powder...I looked on the BM tips thread and it seems that a lot of people don't use it? The instructions said to set it to "sandwich" which I did. There was me, imagining that I was going downstairs to a loaf that would look like it'd come straight from the bakery! Well, it did ...resemble...a loaf of bread...lol

Does your machine supply you with a cup measure or do you have to weigh things?
I ask because this is usually the time when people find that their scales are off. Find an unopened pack of something in light packaging such as pasta or rice and weigh it on your scales. The weight shown on your scales should match the one shown on the pack with an allowance of 5-10 grams (not more than half an ounce) extra for the weight of the packaging.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. You might be right Squeaky..or can I call you Squeaks
It came with a cup but I weighed the flour on my scales which have been playing up a bit...come to think of it
I'll have another go tonight. Also, I noticed that some people use oil instead of butter. Does this make any difference?Owned by [STRIKE]4[/STRIKE] 4 cats: 2 x Maine coon cross males, 1 x Pixie Bob male and[STRIKE] 2[/STRIKE] 1 x Norwegian Forest male....cute!

My one said I was supposed to use milk powder but I found it came out like a stodgy steamed pudding rather than a loaf so I left the milk powder out and it was OK. Theres a lot of trial and error in bread making. You will make a few mistakes before you get it right but it's worth it in the end.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

My Panasonic came last week and I've made three sandwich loaves and one lot of pizza dough so far which were all perfect. Mind you they were white not wholemeal which I have yet to try. I did it to the letter too, used milk powder, butter and did the sandwich setting. Did you remember the salt? If all else fails maybe you could check your scales as previously advised.0

Yup..remembered the salt. I think I may need new scales..... Looking forward to trying the pizza dough and ALL the other doughs you can make. :eek:Owned by [STRIKE]4[/STRIKE] 4 cats: 2 x Maine coon cross males, 1 x Pixie Bob male and[STRIKE] 2[/STRIKE] 1 x Norwegian Forest male....cute!
