Price of Lamb?

  • To compare this with cheap lamb from e.g. Iceland is not appropriate, IMHO. I would rather buy this Arran lamb and cut back on some other part of my food budget to fund the cost.

It's said before here .... good meat is and should be "expensive" or certainly not cheap. Cheap meat is likely to be a huge disappointment as far as taste & texture are concerned .. which to me, is just a waste of money; a waste of an animal (remember it died and possibly lived a miserable life to end up on your plate) and a waste of the farmer going to the bother of rearing it.

Eat good meat, less often if you have to, in order to be able to afford it.
There is a problem though when you have forked out for a whole lamb and have it sitting in the freezer.

It is ever so tempting to find lots of good reasons for sampling it.

It looked a massive amount of lamb joints/chops when it went into the freezer just a few weeks ago now but already I suspect we are more than half way. The more delicous it is the more you may be tempted to have lamb more often than you would have before. We are already thinking that maybe we ought to get another one to last through the year.

Edit: The Tastee Lamb linked to below is quite local to me and has a good reputation locally.
