Typical BT

Options
I use BT for my phone calls and Ukonline for Broadband, I took a trial option with BT for free phone calls at evenings and weekends for 12 months in Feb of this year, no cahrges at all just the line rental and daytime phone call costs. My broadband is only £9.99 a month with UKonline but its only a 1gb connection, granted its unlimited. I have been looking into moving the lot to something all in with Virgin or Talk Talk, which includes the line rental cost as well. NO CHANCE...BT tell me i will be charged £115.60 if i cancel my trial evenings and weekend contract, even though i pay nothing for it for 12 months, they will not budge on this at all, and are adamant i will get charged. I really find it difficult to understand how they can charge me for something they are giving me free at the moment. They say i can take up a package with someone else which includes calls and broadband, but not line rental. This is typical BT to me, its a wonder they manage to hold on to any customers at all. Any suggestions on a good broadband and phone call ISP, must be unlimited downloads, and not much more than the £9.99 a month i pay for broadband now

Surely you can see that you agreed to a 12 month contract, therefore you have to honour it or pay the cancellation charges?

You have a 1gb connection for £9.99 a month and you are complaining!? Thats 125 times faster than my 8mb connection that I pay Sky £5 for.
    Or maybe its a typo:rotfl:

You agreed to the contract, you now have to abide by it.

Though I'm sure it was an 18 month contract and only the first 12 months gave you evening and weekend calls at no charge, the final 6 months of the contract you have to pay for the evening and weekend package.

People who sign up to these packages don't really have any reason to complain, you went into it knowing full well what it entailed.

I think I might complain to Currys because 12 months down the line I'm not happy paying the £199 I did for my Bosch fridge/freezer even though that was with a £100 'discount'.

Don't know why you are blaming BT, when they are doing nothing wrong, it is you who is at fault. Typical of people today though, blame anyone else other than themselves.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I agree its a contract, but i don't pay anything for 12 months as its a free trial, it would be cheaper for them to let me go:rotfl:

Hmm...first posting on thsi site and you all seem a bit aggresive to me, and you have it wrong its definatley a 12 month only contract as they have given me the end of date and its 12 months to the day, with no futher months. I will stick with it till then, and for now i will go with a better broadband connection which includes evenings and weeken phone calls:D

Your not on a Free Trial if your paying for line rental and chargeable calls.. You would have signed up to a 12 month contract for your line rental ,and a 12 month rolling contract to supply inclusive evening and weekend calls.

Break either of the two contracts and you will incur early termination charges.;)

Have a read of this then,as you seem to doubt the word of some of our helpful members.

    BT.Phone Line. http://bt.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/bt.cfg/php/enduser/cci/bt_adp.php?p_sid=Q-O1lB6j&p_faqid=9844&cat_lvl1=345&cat_lvl2=349&p_cv=2.349&p_cats=345,349

Ceasing your BT line before the end of a 12-month contract means you would still be liable for the remainder of the 12-month line rental charge, or £70, whichever is the lower.

    BT.Call Package. http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/dynamicmodules/pagecontentfooter/pageContentFooterPopup.jsp?pagecontentfooter_popupid=24641

At the end of each 12 month minimum period the contract will be automatically renewed for a further 12 month minimum period unless you tell us otherwise. We will write to remind you when your contract is nearing the end of the renewable period. You cannot downgrade during the minimum period or any renewable minimum period. If you cease service during the minimum period or any renewable period a termination charge will apply.

Whats the point of trying to get Inclusive Evening and Weekend Calls from someone else when you allready have them ?

PS. I dont work for BT but i do read the T&C before signing contracts.;)

Ok i see it in black and white, but i still think it a bit of a con, before i was offered this by BT we paid the normal monthly line rental, with no fixed contract, i did not realise that by taking the FREE offer of the calls up that they would all of a sudden tie my line rental into a 12 month contract, ok maybe i should have read the small print a bit more, and now i am going to have to stick it out. Normally i do try and read everything but this offer seemed at the time to good to turn down with phone bills on the up all the time, we will save money in the 12 months i know, but there are better all in deals to be had elswhere. We all make mistakes and i own up to them as a rule, just feel a bit angry with myself now, and still a little with BT in a way........END OF SUBJECT NOW:o
