Having a 'stuck' profile at 2mb used to be a very common issue...
Do you get your internet from BT? If not then you are barking up the wrong un.. Only your ISP can request BTw sort your profile out....
Biggest assumption ever... you have subscribed to an upto 8mb product right?0 -
As ive said...phone BT and ask them to raise your IP profile....youll have to face another 10 day settling period but it should work.Otherwise get the e mail addy for Ben Verwayyn who is the top bod in bt and he`ll sort it...he did it for me!A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

The big drop in downstream connection rate from 8096 to 3104 suggests a fault somewhere down the line. If it were just a stuck bRAs profile the connection rate wouldn't change. Get your downstream snr margin, attenuation, sync rate from your router http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.htm, downstream snr margin lower than 6db and you got problems.
If your own wiring/setup checks out ok then you can put the boot into BT.
As has been suggested check sockets and also filters.
Try test socket behind master if you have one, http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/troubleshooting.htm .“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0 -
Thanks for all thye useful replies. My IP profile seems to have been reset to 7K and I now have speeds between 1MB & 2.5MB. Not fantastic but better.
Maybe the call to my ISP (BT) and the fact that my contract runs out shortly helped.
I have tried the hidden test socket behind the face plate - it made no difference, I'm afraid.
As for the downstream snr margin - I'm having problems finding that at the moment.
Thanks for your help. I will keep you posted.0 -
You have not said as to whether you checked for the attachment of a bell wire at location no. 3, as shown in the article to which I linked earlier.0

Let us know which router/modem you have and we might be able to point you in the right direction. The stats when connected direct to test socket and as normal can tell if the problem lies with your own wiring so will be a big help.
The results from the BT Speedtester when connected to the test socket would help too just to see if the actual IP throughput increases.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0
