I WAS a happy Lloyds customer - local branch, great staff, mis sold me a couple of loans but hohum everyone did back then...
Then I took out a business account with them... And no longer was it acceptable to do MY banking in my local branch - it HAD to be with the business acc manager even for my personal banking although the accounts were in NO way linked. My personal loan for a new car had to be done through the business accounts people too and they couldn't offer me the same rate as their own loan people on the phones. (8.9% vs 19.9% apr...) despite having no problems with business or personal accounts. My bank chap NEVER returned my calls and no-one would even try to help me.
In the end I found the name of a director in London as well as his direct line number and left him a voice mail. The branch manager called me back within 30 minutes and magically seemed able to offer me the 8.9% too...
As a result I moved my current account, my credit card, my personal loan and closed my business account. Bye bye Lloyds and NEVER again.

Well, I had been with Lloyds for over a decade and everything ran perfectly smoothly before I started running into a problem with them. Months dragged on, even though the problem was singular at this point (it involved Lloyds TSB resolving it by contacting another department - that's all). Then, once I started to complain about the lack of service I was getting, it went all downhill from there. And, even after constant reminders, the only way to get them to prompt any kind of response or even to recognise that there was a problem was to complain, and more problems arose from there.Even though the branch staff were genuinely nice and did what little they could do, most of what needed to be done had to go through faceless call centres or departments.I'm sure there are satisfied customers out there, but all I'm saying is that once you run into problems with them, they don't want to know. I'm equally as sure that there are other users on other threads who can attest to that.

I've been with Lloyds for about 3 years and my parents are also with them and we've never had any problems. (apart from when they didn't send me a cashpointcard)
  • I was with Lloyds TSB for over 20 years. Had a good credit rating, even my own account manager. Then I met my (now) husband and through circumstances got into debt. I was managing that debt until hubby got made redundant and wasn't entitled to JSA after 6 months cos I was working. I contacted my creditors, including LLoyds TSB, to explain the situation and offer token offers in the short-term. Lloyds have been the only ones I've had problems with. They won't listen to what I'm saying, they sent threatening letters etc. When I rang Collections they said "Go the the CAB". I then told them I WORKED for the CAB in the Money Advice Service (that threw them - not on their script!). I am now on a repayment plan which I have kept to but they have started added £60 a month in charges and I don't know why. I complained and got some charges refunded, but now its happened again so another letter of complaint has gone to them.
The point I am trying to make is that all the time you are 'solvent' they love you, but get in trouble and ask for help and its.........."who said that"?
Maybe other banks are like that too?
