If they were not in Court, it would not be if there acts were unlawful or illegal. There is no need to split hairs between civil and criminal law, my analogy was used in the same way as yours re electricity bills. Analogies are used to illustrate points, nothing more.

Tell me, how many pickpockets do you know that before relieving you of your cash, ask you to sign a contract agreeing to be robbed? Like I said, analogies are fine when they're accurate.0

No because you would have consented to it.
But under the Consumer Contracts Act terms have to be fair. And just because all banks have the same/similar terms does not make them fair; that just makes it a cartel.
Quote:
The Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 (SI 1999 No 2083) provide that a term which has not been individually negotiated in a consumer contract is unfair (and hence non-binding on the consumer) if, contrary to the requirement of good faith, it causes a significant imbalance in the rights and obligations of the parties to the detriment of the consumer.
Thus banks really are just pickpockets.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.
