Tax codes when children are involved

I know that everyone can earn so much before they start getting taxed on it, but does your tax code allowance go up when you have children?
Im asking as my partner hasnt changed his tax code since our son was born 3 year ago so is paying higher tax and still on basic tax code.
Can this be reclaimed and if so how much hassle would it involve?

His tax code is 522L0

That should have changed in April to 543L. 522L is last years code.Gone ... or have I?0

Why does your tax code change every year?
What difference does that make?
Also this was on his p60, the most recent one.0 -
522L is correct on his P60 because that relates to last years earnings and is NOT Basic Rate
Check his latest wage slip ~ you will find its changed to 543L
Your tax code changes yearly with the budget and the changes the chancellor makes within it
Sorry, but you're not owed anything from The Tax Man:heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Or I'll come round your houses and stamp on all your toys" The ONE, the ONLY, the LEGENDARY Gene Hunt :heart2:0 -
His P60 would be for the previous financial year, so it is correct. His code will now have increased to 543L.
Your tax code increases each year to reflect a larger allowance, which is increased to take inflation into account.Gone ... or have I?0
