inbetween the pavement and road on the grassy bit,is a 6inch high about 5ft long green piece of wood i dont wish to drive over it as would pull of my lower spoiler, probally just think its wrong as no one owns the highway but if it was your street would you want it there0

the OP doesn't have to justify why he parks outside the old man's house - if it's a public highway and he wants to park there then why not?
OP has the old man said anything to you?
I'd just go and remove the plank of wood (if it's not on his property of course)0 -

I think I would definitely move the plank of wood; it would be made up into a raised bed and some carrots planted in it within an our or so. Don't like to see wood going to waste.0 -

If the plank of wood is not actually on the road, how does this stop you parking on the road?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
can you take a pic and upload it for us?0

Why on earth do you want to park on the grass verge anyway?
I hate people who do this to be honest. Not sure I would put a plank on it, but its not an area that you should drive or park on, don't see the problem and think I can see where the old gentleman is coming from.Genie

I would move the wood! Is it a ford cougar you have???Mummy to the most amazing and clever little girl x0

I'm sure you are not supposed to park on grass verges anyway. I can understand why he may be trying to stop you parking there now, perhaps he doesn't want the verge outside his house churned up and turned into a muddy mess by people parking on it!

If you are parking on the grass verge, he could be doing you a favour!
Our local council passed bylaws last year preventing people from parking on grass verges and are now starting to enforce that with silly fines and persistant offenders will be towed. Perhaps there could be something similar in your area?0 -
Parking bays are not generally covered with grass - or am I being stupid here?
Leave the plank. The man has a point.
Prob not a cougar he's driving, I'm thinking a GTO....Genie
