Hi Forgetmenot. I think the general rule is to use the comparison sites and then look to see if the cheapest one (or the one you decide to go with) are offering cashback via quidco or any of the others (I've only used quidco though so can't vouch for the others). I got the cheapest quote for house insurance for my dad via the comparison sites and then got £40 cashback with the same company via quidco. I love quidco!!0

Hi Forgetmenot
I just wanted to say I have been following your thread (terminal lurker that I am) and think you are doing absolutely admirably. It cant be easy but I think the way you have taken the bull by the horns and faced up to things is really inspirational. Well done you - and good luck with the job hunt and the book!

Hi Reetyre - thank you for saying that though I'm not sure I deserve it. I don't have a job yet, but have found that it's ok not to try and do everything at once! I want to finish my book, and fitting that in with all the financial admin, running the house and looking after four children is hard enough without chasing jobs! I'm giving myself another couple of weeks to get the book in a state to get off for agents then I'm going to attack the job hunting. Thanks so much for you support, and good luck with your own journey.

Hello all
A brief update on things....We're due to make the first paymetn on our DMP on the 10th, Friday, and most of the letters and all the calls seem to have stopped. It seems that most have accepted the amounts we're offering but I need to double check this is the case. Egg, that have been so reasonable suddenly wrote to us saying we'd failed to keep up with the terms of the default notice and they were terminating our account (they'd accepted each payment amount between £1 and £30/month without question before...) and they were passing the debt on, so not sure what's going on with them. Haven't been able to find out either as my husband is the one that needs to talk to them and he's been away/unable to to talk during the day.
No job hunting going on because I have been working hard on my book, and have finished it finally. Now editing and fiddling about with it, but hope to get it off to agents before the end of next week. Then the real jobhunting will begin!
I hope everyone is well.

HI FMN
Great news on the book. I know what you mean about focusing on only a few things at once. Job hunting is time consuming and draining. Finishing the book will mean that you can fully focus on the next target.
I just wanted to say well done for getting on the DMP. I am sure that it is very daunting but it also shows another step forward for you. I hope things work out with Egg - hopefully you'll be able to get that one sorted - it could just be some letters have crossed in the post.
Take care,

Well done on finishing the book FMN. Hope the finding a publisher goes well and that the Egg prob isn't too hard to sort.
