  • Hi Lucielle - No news, but all our DMP letters were sent out yesterday so fingers crossed we get some acceptances soon. The phone calls meanwhile are hitting epic proportions. Re a job, I'm trying not to get demoralised and must plan a new campaign approaching agencies, but when morale is low... The book is occupying my mind too and I've done some writing over the past couple of days. Today I've been looking after a friend's little girl as she needs a break. She's asleep now so I'll do some more now before school pick up. How are things with you?

Picking up speed this week, gently breaking myself in for all the after school activities that tire me out and I'm just the chauffeur.

  • Hi Forgetmenot68, just thought I would come and congratulate you for taking the time to sort out your finances - you are doing really well and things can only get better for you and your family!
I wish you luck, success and happiness! x
  • Dig in Lucielle!

Thank you Purpleposting, I really appreciate it. Hope you get on brilliantly too. x

I had a long call with MBNA Virgin call centre from India tonight. Was persuadued to make a payment of just £5 to avoid being three payments in arrears (We owe them over £18,000.....?!) Didn't really understand what he was saying about how this prevented us from being three rather than two payments over, but I paid up. Was that silly? He was very nice and they know now that we are working with CCCS. All our creditors should get their letters in the next few days.

  • Hi FMN

I have just sat and read this thread from the start - you are doing so well. I had similar debt levels to you and my DMP was started and accepted by all creditors at £150 per month (24 years to pay off) since then things have got a little better and as you can see now paying at £312. it took a while for the interest to stop but stop it did on CC's. there is hope it is hard and at times you will slip - i have spent the last 3 years spending about £75 a week on food cause we only had my wage - DH gets a job this summer and food bill doubled!! Mainly due to lack of organisation (2 of us working juggling 3 children was a shock) but I am back now controling everything.

I just wanted to say good luck and keep with it - you will sort everything and look back in a couple of years and say how did i get through that but you do!!

    Fingers crossed for a job
  • Thanks so much inamess, I really appreciate your words and knowing that that you have managed to get on top of things with similar debt levels is so encouraging. I really hope that I get a job soon. I haven't dared to work out how long it will take us to pay everything back at £200/month and would love to have more income so we could increase the figure/shorten the time. At times I feel so angry with myself that we got into this state, blindly, without having a really good time (!), but at lease we're tackling it now. I never want to see another credit card in my life!! Talking to MBNA last night they were telling me about the impact on our ability to borrow in future and I was thinking, "Noooooo....!! Don't you see?! We never want to borrow money again??!!" My only worry is our fixed rate mortgage ending in 4 years... Good luck with your situation too.

    FMN xx
