Airline Workers: Top Upgrade Tips Please

My son returns from New York on Thursday 14 August 2008. He has been doing voluntary work on a Sports Programme with children from poverty households such as parents with drug related problems, violent upbringing etc families. I have e-mailed Virgin Atlantic to see whether he would be able to get a free upgrade bearing in mind what he has been doing. What do you reckon my chances are of getting an upgrade for him. At least I can say I tried to get him at least six hours' comfort after nearly four months of looking after kids who on at least two occasions have threatened to kill him in his sleep whilst looking after their welfare!! Do you think Virgin Atlantic will make him a hero for the six hour flight?!0

Sounds like he could do with a week in San An or Magaluf with some mates, perhaps you should ask Club 18-30 for a free holiday.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

How considerate of you to take such care of his comfort. I am sure that if you can find the time to pay Virgin the very reasonable fee that they charge for an upgrade, they will be pleased to give him the comfort and respect that he so richly deserves.0 -
I was offered an upgrade on the way back from my father's funeral, but only because of mix-up with seat numbers. I didn't take it - as was in major huff with DH because he'd had lots to drink and had to stop the car to pee on the Heathrow slip road.
Och, I've done that going off subject thing!!!
Dress smartly and leave the kids at home - that's probably the best advice from a non-experienced person!0 -

I'm afraid he won't get an upgrade for that. Free upgrades will only be given to Gold/Silver card holders or those with a exceptional complaint!0
