Well I ask you, if my ISA ever goes over the limit for capital gains I'll eat the statement! Sorry not to have automatically thought of it.:j

    Tks for your advice.

I agree time in the industry is an asset
my background is 9 years as an IFA in South Africa.
Products/tax are really testing my technical skills, very different to SA
im doing this course to be able to advise in the UK.

My strategy will be to spend time summarising products/tax implications and going through the mock papers

    Good luck with your exam

Apologies to go off-thread. Just wanted to say :hello: to you as I worked for Old Mutual in Cape Town for 5.5 years up to June 1998.

I completed FPC3 in 2001 or thereabouts (can't find the certificate just at the momemt).

The thread took me back to my days of studying for the FPC. I never worked in the industry in the UK, so have lost touch (but I do remember, as Dunstonh said, to recommend various NSI products first of all! So that hasn't changed).

Very best luck to you all.

well done, but dont think you are over NS&I yet unless you intend go working for a salesforce.

Thanks, how right you both are. I am going through a huge learning curve at work and don't think it will ever stop, but onwards and upwards to my diploma now, and becoming a really good IFA.

    Hi all, :j

just sat this one 2 days ago and anxiously awaiting the results.

Did anyone else sit the April paper and if so, how did we all feel about it?

    Cheers
  • I sat the CF5 exam on Monday in London. To be honest, I think of all recent CF5 exams it was by far the easiest, but I ran out of time so unsure as to how I scored (definately missed around 10 marks, depends on how much I got right on the rest).

Going to be very irritated if I didn't pass!
