Existing Wanadoo Customers: 2Mbps without the £20 fee!

If you're an existing Wanadoo broadband customer, you may have received an email offering you an upgrade from their 1mbps service to their 2mbps, for a one-time admin fee of £20.
As new customers get this service for an introductory £14.99 for 6 months (normal price £17.99) and no admin fee, I thought this was a bit of a cheek.
I rang them up and pointed out that I could switch to Tiscali, getting the same 2Mbps service (without the 2GB limit), no setup charges, for the same £17.99 and avoid their sneaky fee (this offer is until the end of Oct).
They put up minimal resistance and within minutes I had an order placed to upgrade my account free of charge, saving all the hassle of upgrading (which I didn't really want to do anyway!)

Thanks for the info. I just rang Wanadoo and said that I could move to Tiscali and she said just hang on and I will sort it for you, sadly as its my Dads name on the account they have to speak to him and he is out. But they are going to upgrade us for the 2mb thing without the admin charge

I got a letter this morning asking me to email them with my acc. email address and my landline tel. no. and they will upgrade me for free,BUT my next bill might show a £20 charge and if it does not to worry as it will be refunded the month after.WE SHALL SEE.
Not a bad little(not so little) earner for them if the do that to say i million customers they will have £20mil extra for free for one month and no doubt earn a ton of interest on it.0 -
I had emailed Wanadoo approx 10 days ago about the £20 charge & eventually received a reply yesterday giving the usual .... ' one off fee, cost incurred by them, great service etc.
Saw your posts today and phoned Wanadoo CS, after a few minutes of holding on they came back and confirmed they would do it FOC! Many thanks to McScrooge for this, I am very happy & I know my son will be

I've had my letter so I sent the necessary details and Wanadoo e-mail me back saying I had a fault and ring 0870. Needless to say 15 mins later I hung. I"ve sent them a snotty e-mail but I don't think anything will come of it0

I was with Wanadoo and I was out of the 1 year contract. I migrated to madasafish who were offering a years subsciption at £12 a month including upgarding me to 2M and 5Gb monthly allowance. In addition I now have my own website and a fixed IP address if I want it. Wanadoo still are charging me after my migration. They are totally incompetent. They blame upgrading their computer systems, but that is not really an excuse to close down cutomer services for a week. I have now had to contact my credit card company who are now going to block any future payments. I still have to get 2 months of payments.
Avoid Wanadoo - they are cr**. madasafish so far have been good and have a very competitive pricing structure.0
