End of Contract

Orange have just contacted my daughter to advise that she is eligible for a phone upgrade as she is drawing towards the end of a 18 month Dolphin contract (500 minutes + unlimited texts) at £35.00 per month.

Naturally when we renew I would like a better deal if possible (I pay the bills) but she wants to stay with Orange as most of her friends are with Orange.

She texts probably just about up to the 'fair usage policy' but does carry over quite a lot of minutes per month (200-250 sometimes).

I don't want to jeopardise the fact that she keeps to the £35.00 per month but any possibility of reducing the monthly cost but with a little bit extra would be good.

Is it worth me contacting Orange to see if I can get something different tariff- wise or are they pretty much written in blood without any negotiation? I am not sure what else I could ask them for - any ideas?

Dolphin 15 has unlimited texts (but only 100mins which doesn't sound enough) for £15 a month

You could tell them you've seen a better deal else where, so have a look at the other providers and see what they're offering, orange would probably try to match them.

Yes, it is worth the try. Have a look at Martin's article, clicky He was with Orange, by the way!;) and the article is a good read. have aloo at what other network have to offer and use that as a haggling thing. They match other network sometimes is good, but, sometimes, you need to ask them to offer you a bit more otherwise, what is the point of them offering what you already can get with others!:D

A good opening line would be " I want my pAC because I want to keep my numer" kind of phrase!

You should expect at least half or below half the price for renewing without upgrading the phone. Or something should make it worthwhile to stay with them, such as a really superior phone on the same tarrif and price, or a new phone of the same class as your current one, but £5 cheaper per month provided the same tarrif stay the same.

    Good luck

    Giant08,

Check out the Orange Retention thread. It will give you an idea of what is available.

My wife has just upgraded. Started off by saying wanting to cancel contract. Why? To reduce costs. She was on £35 Racoon plan. Now on discounted Racoon, £20pm, new SEw910i, 700 x network mns, 100 texts, unlimited landline. Great deal. My guess is you should be able to get £20pm, choice of phones, 700 mins, unlimited texts. Let us know how you get on.
