will a guarantor be credit checked?

My sister in law is getting a new car (brand new one) on thursday, as she has not been in her current job long, she has been asked to get a guarantor, and she has asked my mum. Im just worried that if they credit check my mum they wont be able to use her as a guarantor. Save any embarassing moments on Thursday!
Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!

She'd be credit checked as if your SIL couldn't pay then SHE would be liable for the money. No good if she has money problems :) I know that in some house rentals it's not the same as my parents live in Denmark and when I needed guarantors they were happy for my parents to be put down but they couldn't check them as they live in Denmark...
