I know it's a no-no to mention such things, unless in the appropriate thread, but what beautiful grammar, spelling and punctuation in this post. It made me sigh with pleasure to read it.
I liked the recipe too.
You are too kind. :embarasse I had the benefit of a grammar school education in the 60's and 70's. The recipe is an Italian classic, so I cannot claim any credit for it.
PS. Thinking back, it was probably also at school that the first seeds of my love of cooking were sown: roasting third-formers over an open fire. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

I do just make a small portion of toad in the hole. But i make double as i don't mind the same two nights running. And it freezes ok too
Glad to help,

Toad in the Hole is easy to do for 1 or 2, especially if you make the batter mix from scratch, as you can make the quantity you require. I also allow for the fact that the batter costs me pennies by "splashing out" on some really top quality chipolata sausages from a proper butcher. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Ohh to have a freezer or the room for a freezer in my little kitchenette...;)Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...0 -

Do you have access to a freezer? If so, why not batch cook then portion it up and freeze it.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. to shop more economically you need to plan what you are eating then eat it!
try planning the next 3 days food buying it then eating it and maybe work up to a weeks mealplan.
do you have access to a freezer? it makes life much easier, you can then batch cook and freeze meals in portion sizes.
i am trying to lose weight at the moment (got a way to go yet:o) i have discovered that i have no will power whatsoever when it comes to goodies in the fridge or cupboards so i have stopped buying anything naughty, the rest of my family are up in arms as they are used to biscuits being there, if they want it they have to buy it themselves this is helping me no end!
another way to help you lose weight is if it is wrapped in plastic or in a box (unless healthy) dont buy it! your body doesnt need all that processed rubbish, stick to good old hearty fruit and veg and meat and have proper meals but watch your portions. when you eat proper meals you dont need to snack as they fill you up and i found snacking was where my extra calories were coming from.proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat moneyquote from an american indian.0 -
Most of my recipes are scaled down for 2 or 3 servings. They should be on some of the threads listed by Pink-winged. A search on my name on the forums should also find them.
Shop from a list. If you use something and reckon that you will need it again (ie. spaghetti), add it to the list. If you use something and reckon that you will not need it again (ie. crisps, biscuits, etc.) don't add it to the list.
I also recommend investing in some kitchen scales. Mine ensure that I get 5 x 100g servings from a 500g pack or spaghetti, to the benefit of both my waistline and wallet. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0
