  • Well it was $500 an ounce around the start of 2006 and its now around $900 dollars an ounce, which is an 80% increase over 3 years.

Edit: Actually as you point out it was $900 dollars a year ago so make that 80% over 2 years.
  • It's about unchanged against the USD over 12 months
Its out performed the stock market by 30%? impressive

Maybe Silver is a better bet then: about 30% over 3 years. That's where my precious metal investments are but good luck finding bullion coins around spot right now.

how do i do that on yahoo finance?
If you go to the page from the link I gave, near the top of the page is a small box with a button next to it says "Get Quote" Type SLV into that box and hit get quote, this will take you to the quote page for the Silver tracking ETF, if it's up silver is up, if it's down silver is down. Doubt there is anything that tracks silver coins, the bullionvault thing is for spot bullion price, haven't seen anything for spot silver free, but I'm sure there must be. That SLV will tell you what silver is doing anyways, close enough for buying coins.
You'll get the front month futures contract price about half way down this page.

  • bery,

I placed an order with coininvest this morning. (it was only a fairly small purchase to see how quickly they deliver).
I will keep you updated with how the order progresses.

I doubt very much if you will find a bullion dealer who will accept credit cards. I know that Chard and ATS won't. This is due to the fee that retailers have to pay for accepting card payments (about 2%)

Out of curiosity how much did they charge for delivery?
  • The delivery was £8.10, but for orders above €2500 (or equivilent in £ or $) it is free.

They don't specify who will deliver, just that it will be UPS, G4S, or a similar courier company.

    Is that insured?
  • Yes, Fully insured (well, that's what the invoice states).

When you pay, it is by bank transfer into a London bank. Coininvest have their head office in London.
