I just thought I'd bring up this post to point out that after the kitchen getting finished eventually in September 2005 there have been numerous problems. The way they have plumbed it we have to get the drains unblocked every month just through normal usage otherwise the kitchen gets flooded. We are yet to have a penny compensation for the fact it took the best part of a year to fit the kitchen (which would have taken a joiner about 3 days with a few hours thrown in from an electrician and plumber) yet we paid £4000 for this installation to B&Q and we are yet to have a single penny compensation after being offered £300 from them... given that we paid additional thousands in rent, taxis etc... not that I find any of that relevant as it's the stress and inconvenience they've caused not to mention missing our honeymoon etc.

Out of interest, being 100% blind, how can you read the replies?

What a horrendous experience for you. When a large company is this faceless and arrogant in the way they deal with your complaint I think it's good to set up a website about them and publicise it heavily. It costs just a couple of pounds to buy a .co.uk domain name and it's worth it for the huge dent it causes to their reputation. In the past, the little man could do very little about these corporations, but the internet enables us to shout very loudly. It forces them to sit up and listen rather than sweeping it under the carpet. I did a website about Morrisons when they gave us food poisoning by selling us food past its Use By date. It wasn't the original incident that angered me, it was their "couldn't give a damn" attitude when we reported it, even though they'd committed a very serious offence.

I'm not the OP, but my guess would be screen reader software which reads the text out loud is used.

To the Original Poster, sorry to hear you had so many problems with B & Q - they left me without a cooker for 4 weeks a few years ago. I went into B & Q and went ballistic, I got £250 in voucher from the manager as I told them I had to eat out every night.

  • Allot of customers have had problems with haveing kitches delivered due to their main whaehouse in the uk being burnt to the ground. I have been told it contained 99% of the stock so hence so many complaints for a situation that was totally out of B&Q control.

What you have to now be careful off is that to report this to the newspapers may give B&Q a lot of free advertising and a platform to put across a totally different side to the story. They will be seen to be oh so apologetic and by the time their press relations officer has finished with the story (remember that they will have the full right of reply) it will have a totally different slant.

This whole thing is a total disgrace and I would be more inclined to take a proper legal case for unacceptable losses against them.

So sorry to hear of the problems you are still having. You may need to check that they can still take the case on but I would suggest you now contact a company called Qualitas Furnishing Standards. They are an independant concilliation service who B&Q will comply with. Qualitas will assess your complaint and the offers made by B&Q and go back to them to confirm whetehr they feel it is fair or not and if not, suggest what payment they feel would be fair. From what i know of them, it seems nine times out of ten they award far more than B&Q were first prepared to give.

    hope this helps.:A

A sorry tale, but, sadly, I'm not surprised. Big company, loads of money to spend on advertising and PR, but noone will take responsibility for doing things properly.
    Happy chappy
