You could be right, i'll just leave my XXX webcam running to stop Plusnets timeouts;)
Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.

lol........That should get you round the cut off.

On a serious note...........Opera has a right click function built into it. You can set it to refresh a web page every X amount of seconds/minutes. Set this for 20 minutes or so, and if you leave the computer on a web page, it will refresh the page automatically.

There is also a plugin for Firefox that will do the same. It's called Reload Every. Find it HERE .

Just go to a web-site which is coded to refresh every so often.

If I recall correctly, Google News auto-refreshes every so often. Looking at the source, I think this is what drives it:- HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="900"

So every 900 seconds (15 minutes) the page refreshes itself.

They can't stop you checking your email, but you might have have to connect up first ;)

Using this as a tool to defeat the disconnect policy, with no other internet traffic will be pretty obvious to them... All they have to do is ignore POP access as 'activity' when measuring how long your connection has been inactive.

Have a read through Plusnet terms. I think this move is accross the board for all packages.

Just a quick question for current plusnet users. I have recently joined them under the Broadband Plus package. Looking at the usage, do you only get 1 GIG per month? I have only usee it for a few days (no p2p either!) and already, I have used 3/4 of this usage.

    Can anyone confirm the usage?

broadband plus is unlimited. The only difference is they prioritise low over high bandwidth traffic, using a quality of service package.

I believe that if you do use your connection unfairly (downloading too much) they will employ a managed usage profile on your connection which will effectively restrict your bandwidth to 67k if the plusnet contention ratio of 30:1 is maximised.

The sad fact is most people who sign up to plusnet are unawares. They simply see £14.99 + unlimited broadband and brandish their credit card.
