    Hi Phil,

I understand everything you've said, so I won't even try to change your mind. However, what I will say is that you have given incredible support to many on this board. You've taught me so much & helped me far more than you realise, you don't moan about your ill-health, & because you've always been there I suppose some of us got used to always being around, like a favourite old jumper you can't bear to let go of even if you don't wear it often. :D

You'll be much missed, but I hope that the future brings you everything you deserve & everything you want. If ever there's someone who deserves the good things in life, you're that person. You are one person for whom the old adage "out of sight, out of mind" will definitely NOT apply.

    All the best. :)

    Hi Phil,

As somebody who cares greatly about your well being and future happiness and prosperity, I feel you have made a step in the right direction, but there are huge risks attached to completely cutting yourself off from people and places that have made you feel, quite rightly, that you have a lot to offer other people.

The internet and forums like this are a relatively recent phenomenon, and their long term effeccts on humanity won't truly be understood for years, probably decades to come. There is an enormous capacity for good and evil, and I truly believe that on balance this website is very much a force for good. You have contributed to that, and you should feel rightly proud of your contribution.

If you're convinced that your best long-term interests are best served by not posting on here again, then I completely respect, and understand, your decision, and the reasons behind it. Having said that, if there's ever a time when you feel as though you have a contribution to make, I would urge you not to stick on a principle, and omit to post something that would benefit somebody else, and you for so doing.

My approach to bankruptcy has always been that it's just one of those unpleasant things that life sometimes throws at us; nothing to be ashamed of; just life. For my part, as one of the original posters on this forum, bankruptcy has given me both the chance of a new start, and made the things that I really want to do a lot harder. Being able to help other people has to a very large extent mitigated having to work in a couple of jobs that nearly drive me to !!!!!!! distraction.

As we work towards the goals that we have set ourselves, the positive feelings of being able to help others along the way, does, to some extent make up for the sacrfices and deprivation in other areas; don't deny yourself that feeling of being able to make a difference.

If we don't see you in August, then you'll defintely see us before Christmas, cos we'll drop in for a drink to toast your good health and happiness.

    Best regards Bruv,

    Rich :beer::beer:

    Hi!
I am not often around much anymore, but would like to say a big thankyou for your warmth and support over the last year. Even just your regular click of the thanks button, made a difference.
I don't log in much, mainly because I get sucked in and it takes over, and I find myself ignoring the kids! It became obsessive and with 5 small children I simply don't have that much time to devote to the internet, and it is unhealthy to stare at a screen for hours and hours. I found I could be on it for 3-4 hours without noticing. I had to really fight the urge to log on and become normal again.
It is really nice to drop in and see old friends about, but I am wary of suddenly being sucked in to the internet world and losing real life again. Even those arguments with BH etc, so absorbing and infuriating....but christ what an absolute waste of time, and why get wound up by people you don't even know?
I keep hoping that I will find a normal balance. So maybe it's a good idea to take a BIG break, but pop back and keep in touch now and again. There are some really cool people around with excellent advice and friendship, and you are one of them!
    Good Luck!!!

    Hello Phil
Possibly a bit too late for you to read this but ill post anyhow.

When i arrived here i noticed quite quickly that you used the thankyou button alot and it just kinda felt like you were taking a little time out to say "hey read your post" and you struck me as the type that would show consideration to others in your day to day life away from the pc screen.

I do see where your coming from and for that reason i do ration my time on here now as i find it all too easy getting caught up and not taking steps to rectify the financial mess im in (hopefully this does nt come across badly but there is a sanctuary in focusing more on the problems of others than ones own and whilst i believe 99.9 % of people here are good hearted i feel we must be careful not to fall into some of the pitfalls you and a few others mention also on this post.

This remains a very positive and fundamentally good place and i do hope that in time you decide to pop in as an occasional visitor to these boards as ultimately most things are good in small doses.

Best wishes in your future and thankyou very much for making me feel welcome when i started coming onto this board.

Hi Phil, I wish I'd logged on sooner so I could say my goodbyes with the probability of you seeing them - everyone hangs around to see the responses to a goodbye post, right ;-)

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the help and support you have given to me, and to so very many others here. My journey into the unknown was that bit less terrifying with you offering your wisdom and virtual hand holding.

I wish you a wonderful life. If there is karma, then there is no question you will get it.

    Damn, my eyes are leaking!!
