im i paying the right price for pipex

Options
i had a email saying that there was a glitch in my payments and need to add another £1 to the monthly bill because i use debit card bringing it to £35, i just did i search on the pipex site which directed me to tiscali, i cannot see any place on the site where it charges more then £14.99 and it actually gives it to you for £6.49 for the first 3 months.

i do not have any extras all i'm paying for is 8mb unlimited connection so way i'm i paying over twice the price of others who in sign up with them?.

thx in advance

    Yes sort of.

Pipex used to be an excellent broadband provider, at the very top of the game, then BT changed the way they billed ISPs for using the infrastructure and then Pipex along with most other providers slowly at first and then rapidly went down hill.

Problem we have today is people want to pay less and less for broadband, but then complain when they have their service throttled or limited by way of a cap etc. You have to weigh up whether you want a fast reliable service with very few limits but have to pay a higher price or have a cheap service with maybe quite a few limits.

It's also worth calling Pipex up and chatting to them, seeing what deal they can offer you as they will do deals for you to stay.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • Yes, pipex used to be good (homecall) but i've had such a bad time with them over the last year I'm now at the end of a long and excruciating tether. Trying to sort out problems with their customer advisors all the way in the Phillipines doesn't exactly help!
I've been charged for 3 months broadband which was never activated at £6.50 a month, and even though I've explained the situation nothing has been done. On top of that they've dared to take £63 from my account as 8 months in advance (what??!!) NO WARNING, NO EXPLANATION I had to phone THEM to ask what was going on!! They promised the money wouldbe credited this month and GUESS WHAT?? Not a penny been returned. Well now, forget their useless customer advisors - I am putting ink to paper to someone in the UK and making sure they know I am unhappy(!) My contract with them comes to an end in July thankfully and there is no way I will be enticed into going back to them. They are truly appalling - STAY CLEAR.

Hi, just to add to this thread.

Pipex are an absolute nightmare... I started with them when they were Homecall and they were an absolute pleasure. You'd call a 01 number and it would ring and be answered (no menu) by a UK homecall employee. I was paying £20 for 512k broadband and unlimited UK calls.

I then made the mistake a month ago of suggesting I might leave - they offerered me a great deal. £25 for line rental, all calls and unlimited 8MB broadband (wow! I thought).

Two weeks later I lost all broadband connection. Now 5 weeks later I've spent over 8 hours on the phone to complete incompentence. When I called cancellations I got my MAC code pretty quickly and will have to use it. Real shame though, 8MB internet would have been good. Main reason I'm switching is they said another 2 weeks before I'd get any connection and even then it would only be 512k.

Grrrrr... so any decent deals out there. Would be great if I could pay about £15-20 for BB and phone (so it's £25-30 inc line rental). I don't live in a Talktalk exchange area - so that doesn't work... and don't really want to get a sky dish.
